Splurge, I guess? I mean, we fell flat even with our budget, which was 5K. In order to stick within budget, we needed to choose another photographer (our initial choice was close to 7K which was insane) and we also removed the wedding album for now. BUT, we have a videographer included as well!

I agree on Splurging on your photos, but we have hired a friend whose work we are familiar with and we love!! Knowing her, we got a huge deal and are saving big time on our photos! And we know that we will be happy with her work!

Going with save? My dad will have the camera but we're still trying to find a good photographer.

This was a MAJOR save. The photographer (who owns the venue) does amazing work, and a florist she often works with have been wanting to advertise their businesses together. They are doing photography for free!!

We are a splurge here. Next to venue and food this was my number one priority. I am not in the least disappointed with the decision my engagement photos are spectacular.

We looked into this one pretty carefully. We are getting married in Banff, so we considered splurging on a mountain-specific photographer, but we questioned whether we would really gain as much extra value as the significant price increase. My fiance used to live in the area and he knows most of the "good spots." I also reminded him that WE are the focus, and the mountains are only the backdrop! We opted to go "local" from my hometown - I even babysat our photographer, WAY back. Courtney Jess Photography will be providing our services, including engagement photos and a full day from getting ready through the first dance. She'll be checking out the venues ahead of time and has even offered to go through some of the sites with my fiance. She's been great so far and we are happy with our choice!

Save. We want nice photos, but we didn't think spending thousands of dollars made sense.

Splurge! I've said that the only things you come out of a wedding with is you're married, and your photographs. We have great photographers and we also opted for a photo booth to get some silly guest pictures as well.

Splurge - For us, we know that the wedding day will go by in a flash and although we will always have the memories of the day, we wanted to have gorgeous pictures to look back on as well. Our photographer is expensive, im not going to lie, but we really do get tons in our package. We have 2 photographers for 10 hours, USB and CD with every photo they take, a custom made wedding album and of course unlimited consultations for the photographers before and during the wedding. We are not having a videographer, as I am just going to ask a close friend or family member to film the important aspects (ceremony, speeches, first dances) so the photographer budget was basically unlimited. I do think we are getting bang of our buck though and I researched A TON before settling on our photographers!

To me this was a splurge and completely worth every penny that we will spend. I've heard many brides over the years saying they wish they had spent more on a great photographer, then saving on an ok one.

All photographers in Calgary seem to be expensive, so even though we felt it was a lot to pay, I don't think it was a splurge considering some other options.

Splurge - I was shocked to find out photography rates. It was a hard decision! We chose someone that we liked their work and price was in the middle.

    Splurge!!!
My future SIL had a "save" photographer for her wedding (she was a friend of the grooms family) and they hated 90% of their wedding photos. My SIL actually preferred the guests photos over the photographers.
Photography was #1 on my list. We are spending about 20% of our overall budget on our photographer... the photos are so important to me, so I wasn't going to chance them not being what I wanted.

We are trying to find the best local photographer as we do not want to spend an arm and a leg on photographer as when you get someone from Winnipeg they charge mileage.

This is a big save for us! We have a lot of photographers in the family so they will get a lot of shots so we went with our friend who is a starting out photographer who will be doing the wedding for her portfolio and as a wedding gift for us. Photography wasn't high on our must have list.

Splurge as wedding photography was very important to us. It took us a while to find a photographer that suited our style for our day and when we came across ours we knew we needed to book him, regardless of the price. We are paying around $3250 for 10 hours of service from him. That also included a 2 hour engagement photo session.

A friend of ours is doing the photography. We are still paying a reasonable rate but it's way less than we would've paid for someone else. Plus he's bringing his colleague so we'll have two photographers. I'm a little nervous about it but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Compared to most other photographers I've seen I'd almost consider it saving but it's still a lot of money. I don't mind splurging on photographer as photos are extremely important to me.

I found a photographer who is just near the beginning of her career. Since she's just starting out, she's much more affordable than more experienced photographers, but her photos are still stunning!
