Hi everyone!!
Anyone else having a destination wedding?? We are getting married November 10th 2017 in Montego Bay, Jamaica at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach!
When I started this planning process over a year ago I didn't think it would be difficult to plan a destination wedding, boy was I wrong! Lol
It's so difficult to have email as your only tool when getting quotes or just information. However I am apart of some pretty great groups which has helped a lot! Having access to a planning site like Wedding Wire has been such an incredibly useful resource for me, almost like having my own wedding planner
As for the wedding itself we are only using one "outside" vendor from what the hotel provides. His name is Kevan Smith aka DJ Vaun of Jamaica Wedding DJ. We are in the process of booking his services and so far he has been an absolute pleasure to work with. The only other vendor we are using from outside the resort is our photographer who we are actually bringing with us from Toronto. She is someone I consider a friend and an incredible talent. Her name is Carla and her company is Magic Moments Studio. Other than the two of them we are using everything else directly from the hotel. Not focusing on any decorations really because I mean we're in jamaica mon! ;D
I order my gorgeous dress from Sophies Gown Shoppe in Mississauga. It is from Essense of Australia (D1733) and it is NOTHING that I ever imagined myself wearing lol but I saw it on the hanger and I just knew. When I put it on...I KNEW! That was my dress and I'm so excited to wear it on the beautiful white sands of Jamaica. My fiancé and his brother (best man), our son (ring boy) and future father in law will be wearing different shades of purple linen shirts and either beige or grey linen pants. The bridesmaids are all doing different shades of purple in whatever style they prefer. I just want them comfortable and happy and they will all look beautiful no matter what. Also hoping to tie my mom, brother, sister in law and future mother in law to tie purple into their outfits as well. Think it will look great for pictures! Lol
I am making large (8") crepe paper roses for the bridesmaids to carry down the isle. I will use them to decorate the tables for the reception but again not doing anything else. Also fun fact my bridesmaids are actually my MOH-Maids (Maid/Matron of honour and bridesmaid lol). These ladies (and there are SEVEN of them...yes 7! Lol) have been my everything, some going back as far as 22 years to the most recent being 8 years now. I couldn't possibly pick just one of them to play such an important role.
The ceremony will be at 3:30pm on the beach with a semi private dinner in the Steakhouse at 7pm. Dinner will be till 8:30pm and then we party on the beach till 10:30pm. We will most likely continue the party at the hotel disco lol
Thinking of doing luggage tags and passport covers for the guest favours.
Bouquet and cake come with the wedding package. I'm easy going so just doing a mix of blush roses and some other different toned purple flowers that I don't know the name of lol
I am a makeup artist and I blessed with some talented ladies (one of my beauties will be doing my makeup and my sister in law will be doing my hair) in my life who will be my hair and makeup team for the day!
I think that's sums everything up for me so far!! Would love to hear from any other destination brides and see how your planning is going! And answer any questions
** I wish I could add pictures so I could show you guys some of the things we're doing
Thanx for reading!
