Hello Future Brides,

Wondering if anyone else is postponing their dates. My original date was on July 18th 2020, and we have decided to move it to October 9th 2020 in hopes this Pandemic will be "close" to over.

What is everyone's thoughts. What are you doing & when are your wedding dates? What struggles and issues are you facing right now? Are your Vendors being helpful? How are your venues treating this situation?

I hope everyone is trying to stay positive as hard as I know it is. I am praying this works out for everyone, and I am so sorry if you have already experienced having to adjust according to the pandemic. My heart is with you all! Smiley heart

Let me know what you are doing to try and stay sane!
Smiley laugh

We were supposed to get married July 18, 2020, but we are having the ceremony on his grandmother's property. So with all this we postponed a year too July 17, 2021. We didn't want to possibly bring someone on the property that could have it and not know.

My wedding was supposed to be August 8 and we have had to postpone until August 7 2021. All of my vendors and venue have been super support and very helpful through out all of this. They've all switched to our new date with no hassle and free of charge

We just postponed our July 4th 2020 wedding to July 10th, 2021 😭😭😭😭

It was actually our venue that said it would be the best call and to ensure we got a 2021 dates which I am thankful for. They just changed the contract date and done! So easy!
However we are losing our photographer due to him being already booked for our new date.
Vista Print has given us a credit for new invites! Which is super helpful.
But in all honestly I was kind of putting off postponing in hopes of just being able to do it after all this planning. But it’s just not looking good and important people that are out of province not being able to come (including my maid of honour) was just not sitting well with us.
A little stress gone, and most of our wedding checklist is done so, a whole year to fine tune everything.
But our hearts are broken and I’m thinking of every bride and groom during these crazy time’s

I agree - my hope is that a spike happens (if it must) relatively soon after things open up so that if things close down again quickly and we nip this in the bud without drawing it out, further impacting fall and winter weddings and into next year. It's so hard that this is completely out of our control - the one thing we couldn't plan for when it came the wedding.

WOW! I would have thought if anything they would raise the costs for next year!
I believe all the Saturdays for our venue are gone for next year as well, so we will have to settle for a Friday... I do hope our venue does allow us to do the same. Smiley atonished

Hopefully it works out! Our venue said we could hold a date and keep our date. We just took to long to pick a backup date to hold and all the Saturday’s in our hall were gone for the summer. Interesting enough our venue lowered all the costs for next year!

I lucked out big time, my dress was just in for alterations right as everything was shutting down. The seamstress was so wonderful, she had a pile of wedding dresses to alter and she was working round the clock to get them out to the brides before she couldn’t. So just under the wire I got mine back.

See that's what I wanted to do, but my Fiance said he WANTS to get married this year, and said we have a better "chance" of that happening in October, that's why we pushed. I do pray it works out well for you! I am rooting for you! Smiley smile

That's my worry as well. I think maybe by September-October it will be better and many people will be able to have their weddings, but I also think that somewhere during this period there will be another SPIKE for the virus which will cause EVERYTHING to shut down again.

I am praying this doesn't happen or at least hoping for a vaccination.

I have booked October 9 2020 and requested if I could hold a date for the following year in the event this year doesn't pan out. I am still waiting on a response.

    Oh boy!
You should ask your venue if they can lower the "Guaranteed amount" due to COVID since some guests may be "nervous" to come to a big function.

Our Venue has allowed us to lower ours from 140 guests, to a minimum of 110.

I am hoping October works out for the both of us, I am also happy you didn't have to deal with the stresses of Rentals! Did you already do the alterations to your dress or you still have to do that?

I am so sorry to hear. I also wanted to just push for the following year, but my Fiance is eager to be married this year, so we pushed it a few months in hopes it will be better.

Our wedding was supposed to be July 18 this year as well, and with two of my bridesmaids and many guests coming from afar/abroad we decided to postpone our wedding until August 20, 2021. There were no Saturdays left for next year so we are stuck with a Friday but we just couldn't bear the thought of having a "covid" wedding 6ft apart with only a third of the guests allowed this summer (we live in bc too and John Horgan is holding fast on the gatherings of 50 people). The venue and vendors have been understanding, but my photographer is moving away and my ceremony musician doesn't work weekdays so now it's back to the drawing board. After 18 months of planning we are just feeling really sad our day can't go ahead as planned. I'm sorry this is happening to us all.

We were May 30th originally but have pushed to Oct 17th of this year. The vendors were great and really understanding. We are hoping things look better in the fall but we have a few backup plans for that day if we can’t have our original wedding due to restrictions. We just really want to get married however that day ends up looking. We have no wedding party so we didn’t need to worry about dresses or suit rentals. And because our wedding was supposed to be this month we already have his suit and my dress safely tucked away in the closet. I am finding the closer we get to the original wedding date the sadder I get though. I keep thinking about how these weeks would look if this hadn’t all happened. I think I’m going to get us some champagne for the day we were supposed to get married so we can celebrate our “almost wedding day”.

Our original date was July 25 2020. We were hoping to postpone to November but we just didn't want to have to postpone a second time, so we decided that 2021 was the safer bet. Our new date is June 12, 2021.

All of our vendors have been amazing at accommodating the date change with no penalty fees or anything, so I couldn't be happier with the way they've all handled it. I can't believe how some of the venues/vendors are treating their clients so we feel really fortunate in that regard. Our venue also has never hosted a wedding before since it's not a typical place people would think of for their wedding, so they were super lenient on everything.

Ours is October 17,2020 and I’m nervous on how it will pan out as our venue has a min of 146 guests. Time will have to tell I guess!

Our wedding is on October 2, 2020. Because of family in the US we've decided to elope this year and have our reception on our first anniversary. We just don't think travel into the country or province will be allowed/easy before a vaccine is available. It would be heartbreaking to have his parents turned away at the border days before the wedding so we've planned ahead.

I'm honestly more ok with it than I would have expected. Our photographer is on board, we are waiting on a response from our venue to change the date to 2021 (if we lose the deposit it will be ok), and I work with a bunch of lawyers who can potentially officiate. There is a spot I wanted for wedding photos that I'm hopeful we can use for the ceremony. It's a cute brick alley full of twinkle lights and charm.

I just changed my day from August 2020 to May 2021. I wanted a different day but everything was already booked. I would inquire about the date change with your venue ASAP if anyone is considering.

I agree it’s worth pushing the big celebration to next year. I’m almost worried that next summer may be up in the air, let alone this fall. It would be so hard to try and plan another date only to have that cancelled again. I love the idea of getting legally married on that day this year and celebrating on your first anniversary next year!

All the best to all the couples out there having to deal with this- my heart breaks for you.

All depends where I suppose. Im in BC and we were just told today by the Premier no gatherings bigger than 50 until there is a vaccine. which could be a year. We are August 22nd this year and are 99.9% sure we are taking our back up date on May long next year. Smiley sad

It really sucks but our vendors and venue have been amazing with penciling us in for our back up day.

We were August 29th 2020 as well but I think we are finally facing reality that this isn’t getting any better and postponing until August 29th next year.
