Ours was definitely venue. I had stumbled across photos of our venue before we were even engaged and decided then and there that we would get married at that venue, lol. I just fell in love with it. We looked at other similar options, but kept coming back to the one we chose. I'm doing a rustic/vintage theme to match the venue, but largely keeping it simple to let the venue speak for itself. Also repurposing vintage-y decor that I already have at home to cut costs.
I did venue first. Once I found the venue, I planned my theme around it. So That's how my theme became vintage and classic because of the venue settings and decor.

Also adding some rustic elements. So a bit of formal and a bit of fun
I had the theme for my wedding and chose venues that worked with it. Of course, it helps that I already had an idea of the venue that I wanted and it all kinda just came together! We're going rustic/natural with our ceremony at a waterfall and the reception at a nearby golf course.
Theme! Ours is under the stars so pretty easy to put into any venue!

For me the theme came first. We’re still deciding about venue stuff. Looks like we’re having a backyard wedding to so we can concentrate on food, decor and drinks.
It’s more likely because I’m having a hard time finding a good price for a restaurant reception
This describes us exactly! We don't have a theme and it drives some people crazy that we don't! But, besides rustic, I don't really know how to decorate for themes!
I had the theme picked out first and the venue totally complemented it! I had a peacock/tropical theme in mind and our venue has live tropical plants in an atrium!
Our theme came first, but I didn't really care where our venue was as the theme was going to happen no matter where we held it. My husband and I met travelling abroad and we have been to several countries, so I always knew my theme would be travel. We looked at a few venues (rustic, glamorous, industrial chic), all of which could be used for our theme. We chose the industrial chic venue!
Absolutely the venue. We found our venue and fell in love with it. Also, we don't really have a theme. We just have design elements that we hope will compliment each other.
Ours was also a little bit of both! We both grew up more on the country and we are both into the outdoors so it made sense that our theme is rustic/ country side. The venue that we ended up choosing doesn't need much decor as it is just so pretty to begin with!
Kind of both... We wanted a barn wedding and some would argue that would be the theme as well as the venue. We got the barn venue we wanted so obviously sticking with the natural country theme.
We picked our venue first. I didn’t spend a whole lot of time on picking a theme so to speak. Our venue happens to be rustic so the different elements my FH and I like go well with it. Also because the venue has some much character we are going with more a minimalist feel. I’ve added on a surprise for my fiancé and guests that I am so excited about that goes perfectly with the style of venue!
They kind of came to us at the same time. My fiancé wanted to get married in the city and love the exposed red brick, wooden beams, and cobblestone pathways (old industrial chic).
i love the idea of mixing hard spaces with light and airy textures. Our colours are white and champagne with lots of greenery and a bohemian vibe. I can’t wait to see it all come together (156 days away!!)
Our theme was picked first! We knew we wanted country camo, simple and fun. We researched country/rustic venues bit they were out of our budget or booked, so we picked a nice but basic hall for our reception and will decorate our tables with our country camo decor.
