Paperless invitations?

Natalie, on July 7, 2018 at 23:58 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 17
I live in China and mailing out physical invitations for our wedding in Canada is a recipe for disaster seeing as half my postcards never make it to their recipients. I was wondering if anyone has done paperless invitations/save the dates or is it a huge faux pas? If not, has anyone used any websites to do it?

I will be doing Save the Dates online but the actual invitations by mail just on the basis that there are some older guests that I know don't even own a computer so they would be unable to get their invite. In your case I would say the STD's can be done online and if you don't have any problem with an online invitation as well then go for it. If you are skeptical then I would suggest that you have family that is living in Canada send them out. You can still pick the invitations out online and everything but that way they can put it in the mail and will be cheaper to send from within Canada.

I think you can totally go paperless. If it guarantees that all your guests will get the invite than I don't see a problem.

We created ours online, download and sent it to our guests on WhatsApp. We only printed about 15 copies ($5.00)for some of our families that are not on WhatsApp.

We used paperless post for our save the dates and invitations. Loved it. There are many free designs to choose from. We did end up paying a bit to send them though. But, we were able to limit most of the cost by keeping things simple.

What Website would you recommend for electronic invites? We would like to do the same to save some money.

Paperless is totally fine nowadays... but if you have a trusted family member here, you could always get them to help out from Canada.
Or just a handful for the older guests that may have trouble with evites.

My friend did an online invitation as she lives in England! The way she did it was message people personally and then mention that they would be receiving an o line invite via email! So it was still personal and then people expected the email I thought it was perfectly done! She just had a standard email that she personalized and then linked to an online RSVP!

It depends most people are tech savvy so there would be no problem. Just the more elderly would need a physical invitation

You could order the invitations to a family member you trust in Canada, and they can send them in Canada, if you want to avoid e-vites. I think people would understand if you went digital though Smiley smile

We are also going paperless, partly to save money and because most of the time I feel a majority of guests don’t keep those things. We are planning to order a few invites for immediate family and grandparents that may want a keep sake. I think it’s fine for you to go paperless or if you really wanted to get a family member or friend to send them from Canada. It means that you wouldn’t actually get to see the invites tho or hand address them.

My cousin just got engaged in May and set the wedding for August, with family from Toronto, New York, Boston, Florida, Egypt and Guyana there was absolutely no time for paper anything. He sent emails with save the dates then invitations all electronically and managed elderly fam by including them on a younger child/aunt/uncle's invite. He did order some hard copies but they hadn't arrived yet last weekend when we spoke and the wedding is in 3 weeks so that was totally unnecessary. He used withjoy.com and said it was amazing and super streamlined the whole rsvp process.

I did paperless save the dates! They were super cute. I recommend PaperlessPost! Beautiful stationary, and I paid like $10 for all my save the dates and there are free options too.
