How popular were signature cocktails?

Peggy, on February 2, 2018 at 14:21 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8

My fiancé and I are talking about having signature cocktails at the wedding, but we have no idea how popular custom cocktails are (we know beer and wine and regular rum and cokes will be the majority of drinks)!

Did you have custom cocktails at your wedding? About how many were served? Were they more popular than you expected, or not nearly?

We are doing a signature cocktail, mainly because we can stock our own bar at our venue. Were doing a "Hennessy ginger". We are getting enough Hennessy so everyone can have atleast one signature drink. After that they have all the other choices to choose from.

I have a sign made up that I will be putting on the bar so people know it's available.

We aren't doing them, mainly because we figure people will choose the drinks they prefer.

We are having signature cocktails, and my venue includes them in our open bar. We are having for me "Something Blue" which is really a blue Hawaiian, and for him a Moscow Mule. I have a sign made up for the Bar stating the signature cocktails.

We are doing them because we are providing our own alcohol. With signature drinks, we can limit the variety of alcohol and mixers we have to buy.

It's more so the expense I think... if you don't have one, no one will miss it (I'd think)... having one with meaning to it is cool as well. I wouldn't do it "just for the heck of it"... maybe have one with a bit of a back story regarding the 2 of you?

My cousin had the option to add signature cocktails to her cocktail hour at her wedding in Mexico (for an extra cost), and it was a blue coloured cocktail in champagne flutes with little starfish floating in it... They weren't great, couldn't tell you what it was, and I only remembered it for the first time now thinking about your question... haha.

I think they are quite popular, if people are aware they are there. Make sure people know about them and they are more likely to be ordered. It's an easy decision if they are already made up instead of having to come up with an idea yourself.

We are having them because one of them is a nod to his nana who just passed last year and won't be with us. Her drink of choice is a gin and tonic.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing. I mean, we just want them because they're fun and exciting, but all the weddings I've been to had them and they were always a pretty big hit.
