How did you decide on your wedding date?

Just curious how did you all decide on your wedding date? was it based on venue availability? anniversary date? why that specific month? For me, I always wanted a June wedding and the venue we both loved only had the last weekend of June available.

I wanted a winter wedding. I didn't want to do it before or around Christmas. Then I looked at which weekend I had off. (I work every other weekend) then so we decided February 20. Of course I took at different posting and my weekend has changed but luckily it is winter and I should be able to get the time off... I hope

Our original date was based almost solely on venue availability. When we decided to push the wedding date back we had more options and our anniversary date was available so we picked that date Smiley smile

Ours was an easy decision. We started dating August 2017 and our wedding day is one day after our 3rd year anniversary so it was the perfect day for us.

We decided mostly by venue availability. We knew we wanted a fall wedding and initially hoped for the first weekend of October since the next weekend would be Thanksgiving and you start to run the risk of it getting too cold after that. The venue we decided on was booked for that weekend so we were left with the one before that - Sept 26, 2020.

We got engaged April 2018 and already knew we wanted a winter wedding. Doing the wedding late 2018/early 2019 seemed like we wouldn't have enough time to plan so that brought us to looking at late 2019/early 2020 dates. I didn't want November because I wasn't confident enough that we'd have snow. December was a no because of it being busy with christmas and new years anyway. February seemed too late and made me worry about snow being gone so we settled on January 2020. In terms of a specific date, the 4th seemed too close to New Years, the 11th was too close for me with my birthday (the 9th) so we picked the 18th.

It's so nice that you'll only need to remember one anniversary! We thought about using out 11th anniversary but it fell on a Wednesday and July felt too soon to pull everything off by.

We knew we wanted to be married in 2020, and in particular the month of July because the weather is nice.

The 18th was chosen really because we didn't want the wedding on the holiday weekend - too many people would be away and mid month just suited us.

Our venue was booking up quickly so I'm glad they had it.

Originally I wanted to get married in January, but my FH is Serbian, and they celebrate family patron saints throughout January weekends. It would be considered offensive to hold a wedding over those times. December is so expensive for people with Xmas and we didn't want to strain people's financials by holding a wedding for which people feel obligated to give gifts. February and March are too unpredictable for weather, April is rainy, we didn't want a summer wedding, so May is was!! But we are super happy with it, and we've seen pictures of our venue in May and it's beautiful.

I didn't really care when the date was, I was willing to plan around whatever venue we wanted and the dates they had available. Then we ended up going with a back yard wedding ceremony and the reception venue has never had a wedding there. So we could pick literally any date we wanted. In the end, we realized that our 13th dating anniversary landed on a Saturday next year, so we thought we might as well make it an easy transition and what better way to celebrate a dating anniversary than making it official?
I always thought I would get married in the fall since it's my favourite time of year, but that's when my best friend is getting married so I wanted to make sure we wouldn't overlap too much since I'm in his wedding party.

Taylor and I knew we wanted a Friday to save a little cash, and when I looked at the Fall dates a few were elimated quickly. Like the September and October long weekends, and September 11. In the end I liked the sound of "October second, 2020"
10.02.20 😍 hopefully it's an easy anniversary to remember!
