Would you trash the dress?

Lynnie, on April 5, 2018 at 12:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 19

A lot of us think about what we're going to do with the dress after the wedding day... you could save it, or try to sell it....or you could trash it!

This was a new photography trend that started in the early 2000s, where brides put their wedding dress back on and trash it in an extreme photoshoot for some really incredible pictures!

Have you ever considered trashing the dress?

No way! I love my dress! I had it cleaned and preserved and I might bust it out again some time in the future.

Everyone has a different take on this subject, I agree that if the dress can be sold then that is the ideal solution to “what to do with the wedding dress after”... personally I would LOVE to trash the dress. Right now I’m saying HELL YES to trash the dress but it also definitely depends on circumstances since changes to wedding planning are constantly changing.

No, I don’t wanna sell it but i don’t see the point in destroying it either.

No! At this point I want to keep it. I'm short so selling it will be difficult to do! I doubt my future daughter would want to wear my dress (I didn't want to wear my moms even though I dressed up in it a couple times as a child!) but I can't imagine purposely ruining it! (I think there are some where the dress isn't completely ruined but I still don't want to do it!)

No way! I'm going to have it cleaned and will drop it off at a local bridal consignment store, try to get some money back.

My wedding dress has just been sitting in a closet since my wedding but I still can’t bring myself to get it rid of it! I’m also not sure if or how I want to preserve it.

I love looking at trash the dress shoots and think they are so cool - especially the beach and underwater pictures! I like the idea of buying a cheap dress to trash if you want the photos!

The only reason I would do a trash-the-dress shoot would be if the wedding got called off or something. I want to keep it as a momento and maybe my future daughter will wear it(?).

No way! I spent too much time and money looking for my dress... I'll just keep it in the back of my closet... haha

I doubt I'd ever wear it again, and I can't sell it as I'm too short - once it's hemmed for my 5 foot tall body it would be too short for anyone human sized to wear it! But I can never imagine trashing it!!!

At the moment, I have no intentions to trash the dress, but maybe in a few years if it still fits, I won't be as attached to it as much and I would be willing to try it. While I think it is great to save it for future generations, styles change so I wouldn't expect anyone to want to wear it. I would just save it more as a momento.

Nope nope nope nope. No. My sister has considered wearing my mom AND my grandmother's dress... I'm not going to ruin a beautiful gown for a picture.

I saw one couple doing a 'trash' the dress photo shoot in Mexico. They had got married the day or two before, and they did a photoshoot in the pool/beach. It looked cool... but it looked like she'd gone with a less expensive dress with the intention of travelling/trashing it.

Definitely will not be trashing the dress. It's too expensive to wreck and I have no desire to take any more photos than I have to. Haha

Honestly I will likely sell it or have it re-purposed (christening gown etc).
