Will you have a wedding video and photography or just photography?

Donna, on August 24, 2017 at 14:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 22

I won a videography package at a bridal show but the catch is that we'd have to purchase a photo package from them as well. The thing is we already hooked a different photographer. When I mentioned that, the other company is offering to give us 50% off a video package, but I don't know if we really need to have a video too. What do you all think?

Thats amazing you won the package and any comany will have a catch which sucks. If you choose to go with the deal, its a great saving rather than paying the full price. It is something to have others see that were not there.

If your budget fits the price of the videographer, go for it. If you choose its not worth it, leave it.

I have a Photographer, but I'm on the fence with a videographer. I love how they turn out, but how often would we really watch it? We plan on putting our wedding photos up in every room, but I have had a video done in the past and I never watch it. So do I want to take on that expense also... probably not. I may ask for certain people to take vidoes with their phones for certain parts and get them to send it to me and try to put a little something together.

I wanted to get both but when it came down to budget, we had to pick one. We thought pictures were better to have and just ask family to take the video.

We are just doing photography. We are counting on family members to take video footage on our wedding ceremony Smiley smile

We are just doing photography. Video is just out of our price range. We want other things for our wedding that we don't need both.

    Hi Donna,

Initially I was only going to get a photographer & them I watched my friends wedding video and changed my mind instantly. The emotion that was captured on video was so beautiful. Its like you can relive your wedding day all over again.

We are just having a photographer, and I am going to ask a relative or friend to film some of the more important aspects of the wedding (ceremony, speeches, first dances) The photos were super important to us and so we wanted to spend most of that part of the budget on photos, not so much on a video. Also, I have been to several weddings where the video-grapher uses super harsh and bright lights that mess with the natural lighting for photos, and so I wanted to avoid that.

If you are in southern Ontario, I have an inexpensive photographer/videographer for $80.00 per hour. We're using him for photography and I contacted 5 references, all were very good. Here's the website: www.urdigitalmemories.com

We are doing video and photography. I know I will watch the video way more than look at the photos. Plus a few co-workers of mine say that their kids love watching it years later. So if you are planning to have kids, might be a nice memory to have!

I did get in touch with them and they have 5 packages ranging from $1900-$4500. So at half price I would still be paying $800 plus tax.

Is it still a large amount with the discount?

Justifying it is my problem. Even though we won a "prize", we still have to spend the cash to get it.

Yes, I agree with you. We spent a little more on photography too, but I still kind of wish we could have the videography as well.

I have also heard that the day just flies by and I'm sure there will be plenty that we'll miss or want to relive. If only money was no object!

I'll have to get back in touch with them to find out just how much of a deal they can offer. The package we won was $3000. Even with half price we can't afford to spend that much on a video.

In a world where money wasn't an object (don't we all wish) we would have one. But realistically, we can't afford one. So we are splurging a little bit more on our photographer to ensure at least we have great photos

If you're getting a great deal I would 100% do it! I Would love to be able to have one but they're too expensive. I was really really sad when we couldn't fit it in the budget. Photos are great but with video you can relive the moment even more clearly.

I would so love love love to have a videographer - but currently it's not in the budget! I would definitely get one if I could.. I was talking to someone that just got married this past weekend and they said how it just flew by and they couldn't remember everything. I think this is a neat way to look back on the day! and see moments you may have missed while out doing photos, chatting with people etc. Smiley heart

I just had a photographer cuz I didn't want to pay a videographer. That being said, I wish I had one. I'd never be able to justify paying for one, but if I got a deal like that myself, I would jump on it. I don't think you'll regret it. Another one of my friends told me they regretted not having their wedding videoed. You might or might not.

I like the idea of a montage. Thanks for that.

We're just having a photographer, but I might ask my youtuber friend to do like a 2 minute montage of moments from the day. Wedding videos nowadays are really cool! But I personally care more about the pictures.
