Jillian, on March 27, 2018 at 15:38 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 10

Hey everyone!

my dress is ivory and he is going to wear a grey suit and a white shirt. will this make my dress look very off white and kind of "dirty" looking?

My H2B got an off white shirt as both my dresses are off white. The first thing they asked us in the suit shop was the colour of my dress.

Actually someone actually told me one thing people forget to match or coordinate is the grooms shirt. She told me never to buy the shirt until your dress arrives and you can match it. So that's what I'm waiting to do. Once my dress arrives I'll start looking for his shirt. My dress has a cafe underlay so I don't want his shirt to look super stark white up against my dress. There are so many different shades of white and ivory. It amazes me!

Definitely not. Ivory is such a popular dress colour these days and I've never seen or heard of any complaints of dresses looking bad or "dirty" next to the groom.

This won't be a problem, many many people wear ivory dresses, and nearly all white shirts are white white, and it all ends up looking great, so I would not worry about this.

I wore an ivory dress and my husband wore a dark grey suit with white shirt and my dress didn't look dirty at all! I have pictures next to people wearing a white shirt and my dress looks great! Don't worry.

I’ve also been wondering about this, when we were picking out the groom and groomsmen attire the gentleman working at the time told us that the guys should all wear ivory shirts if my dress is ivory. My biggest issue is my dress is ivory but still looks white to me and the ivory shirts actually look ivory so I feel like they won’t match. I think I like the white shirts better but haven’t decided what to do yet other than go back in and compare a picture of my dress with the shirts and see what looks better.

Hmmm looking at the picture that Courtney shared to me it doesn't look dirty. If your second guessing may be try putting his suit to your dress and look at it. And decide. But Definetly don't look dirty.

I've heard other brides concerns about this as well. I think it will look fine considering it will be very minimal white showing. If you're really concerned, could your fiancé switch to an ivory shirt?

I don't think it will make it look dirty because ivory and white are different colours. I've also heard ivory tends to look white in photos (when I looked photos of me in my dress, it did actually look white) and white tends to have a slight blue tinge. (I'm not a photographer, but I heard this from a photographer)

My dress is oyster with a lace ivory overlay. We put my dress up to a white shirt and it looked off. We made sure that all of the guys have ivory shirts for that day.

    No!

Don't even worry about this. Ivory dresses are more and more common these days. I quickly Googled ivory dress, grey suit and got this. It looks lovely! (also its the same colours I'm doing so it'll be grand!)
