Who paid for your honeymoon?

One of the earliest and biggest conundrums you'll encounter when you’re planning a wedding is figuring out who pays for what. There are lots of different ways to divvy things up, so share your own perspective!

Is your honeymoon a gift, or are you paying for it yourselves?

I think we are going to split the honeymoon 50/50.

We're paying for it ourselves. The money we received as gifts from the wedding helps - but we certainly didn't "NEED" it. We are also utilizing all of our loyalty points that we've spent pretty much our entire lives collecting (Aeroplan for our flights, and my husbands IHG rewards for hotels in larger cities). As a result we are flying business class/ first class from Toronto - Singapore - Sydney - New Zealand - Toronto! We are also staying with his aunt who has a 2bdrm condo while in Singapore. As for the rest of our accommodations - we are utilizing a mix of staying with friends, Airbnb & boutique hotels.

My FH is currently deployed and they will fly me to see him so we are taking advantage of that for our honeymoon. He will pay for everything once I arrive.

We have a honeymoon registry so most of it’s going to be paid for by us but some people will pitch in which would be awesome.

Oh that's awesome! We are kind of in the same boat. We've lived together for over 5 years now and we have everything we need. We signed up for a registry but we don't need the stuff that's on it. I would prefer cash to help with home renos and down payment on our next house.

There is a few different sites: I use MyRegistry.com which allows us to add a cash contribution towards our honey moon, we can still add physical items from amazon or physical stores as well.

There is also honeyfund.com/canada which is similar to MyRegistry (to my knowledge).

Both let guests contribute financially to our honeymoom as opposed to making a registry for things we don't need since we've lived together a year.

Technically we are. We are paying for our flight and car rental and food/ entertainment etc but at the same time our wedding gift from my FH parents is to stay at their house in Florida for a week so I guess it's split.

Our honeymoon is our wedding registry. Currently my dad is paying the deposits/and will pay the balance. Then we are asking for contributions to our honeymoon, which will pay him back.

We have a honeymoon cash registry, so we'll use money from that. But we will be paying for it up front.

We are paying for it ourselves, with the help of wedding gifts as well. We were able to pay for it without the gift money, but it certainly helped us get there faster. We just made our final payment last week, so I'm looking forward to going!

We are putting any cash gifts we get at the wedding (we didnt register anywhere) towards the honeymoon.

And on top of that we both have some money saved and FH has vacation pay banked at work for the past 4 years that he has never used. So we are hoping that covers the cost of our trip!
