Hey, I'm Kaytee and I THINK we are getting married on October 7th, 2017 (still waiting on the venue). We are going for DIY, rustic and romantic as well (good choice Sharon!!). The venue dance floor is outside (Edmonton) and I am starting to worry that it might be a bit chilly to have the dance outside. BUT maybe heat lamps?!?!....

    Happy planning everyone!

Hello! I am Laura, we are getting married at Blue Devil Golf Club in Calgary on September 9, 2017. I am hoping to keep things pretty simple with a little DIY table decor. This date is pretty special to me as it will also be my parents 50th wedding anniversary so we want to honour them on our wedding day as well. I think I have mostly settled on a darker gray and a mix of pink and red for my colours. We are not from Calgary but live an hour outside the city so coordinating everything with our busy schedules is interesting.

Hi I'm Nicole and I'm getting married September 30, 2017 in Calgary! We found the venue, a local hotel, and that is about all! Our colors are purple and I've started one DIY project for decor and am going dress shopping in a few weeks so the ball is finally rolling. My fiance and I had our first date Sept. 30 2013 and, he planned on proposing that same day in 2015 without realizing it was our anniversary but the ring did not arrive in time, so it's a pretty special day for us!

We just bought a house together and are paying for the wedding completely on our own so it's been/going to be, one hell of a few years! If anyone happens to have tips for cheap vendors or local deals I'll gladly take the advice!

    Hi Samara Smiley heart

I'm really impressed that you can organize everything at a distance! I think a DIY in your situation could be really good. Or maybe just have something really simple like this Smiley smile

... Am I missing anything else?

I came up with a few ideas to help you. Let me know which ones you like and I'll give you more ideas! We'll try to make this fun and as easy as possible! Smiley smile

Hello! I'm Samara. My wedding is on July 29, 2017 in Edmonton. Our ceremony is at the Muttart Conservatory and our reception will be in a smaller room at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald.

I am planning my wedding from out-of-town. Edmonton was just the most convenient place for both our families' guests.

We're planning a romantic, elegant wedding with bold colours.

Planning from out-of-town has been difficult, since some vendors want to meet in person and travelling to Edmonton is particularly expensive from the Canadian territories. However, I am trying to budget for a couple visits in the process.

I may need a bit of help setting up between the ceremony and reception - I'm not planning on anything too complicated - We are only guaranteed two hours of set-up time before the reception, and, especially as I don't have a lot of friends in Edmonton that would be able to do this, I can probably do some DIY if I like before hand, but I obviously won't be available for set-up while I'm taking photos. I'm wondering who I could get to help with set-up, if needed, at a low price. I don't want to spend a few thousand on decorators. The Hotel MacDonald will provide and set-up the tables, linens, and place settings, however, any other decor is our responsibility. I imagine the florists may help some, but I'll still need someone else there to oversee and help etc.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or suggestions? What was your experience with the Hotel's and florist's set-aka (how much did they help or offer to do)? Also who set-up your AV equipment and lighting?

I'd really appreciate any help you can offer! Thank you! Smiley heart
