Which came first - Telling your friends or telling your family about your engagement?

FAMILY!!! In fact I DID NOT tell any friends or post on social media until all of my family was informed directly from me.

Family! Told one of my sisters first.

I called my mom first but she wasn't home so I told my friend because I needed to tell someone.

We messaged his best man first because he told us first when he was going to propose to his wife.

My fiancé and I told our families first; my fiancé told his parents and his eldest brother he intended to propose months before he did (and he told my mom two weeks prior to. He was too scared to ask/tell my dad, which was silly because my dad likes him).

My mom and sister were 1st followed by my dad, best friends, and FH family. It was a very exciting day that was caught on camera by an amazing friend!

My sister quickly followed by my friends and then my parents later. My parents would of been first but my mom was working and I wanted to tell them together. My parents and sister already knew so i didn’t think it was a big deal to tell my friends first.

Family first because my parents were on their way to my house already and my fiancés family was next store at the farmers market! Then I sent a text to close family/friends to let them know

Family first beacause they needed more time than everyone else (cousins, aunts and uncles).

Family! We were in Banff and it was in the evening, shortly after it happened I called my mom then my sister.

We were on vacation with his family so his parents, aunt and uncle were the first few ppl to know

Family. We were in Mexico and it was 3:30am so we had to wait 2 hours until my mom and sister were getting up back home to tell them. We didn't tell our friends until much later in the day after all our family had been told.

Family! My sister and her husband were the first to know as we live in the same townhouse complex then we drove my parents then to his parents then his brother and his fiance.

My FH proposed at Christmas so I didn’t have to tell the majority of my family. The first person I text was my best friend! She was so excited!!

I called my 2 best friends, then my mom, his mom, brother & sister in law, my dad and then Facebook.

I called my parents first. Once I stopped crying. Haha

The big question was never really popped. We’ve been living together for some time and have immigration paperwork filed and are kind of doing things the way my parents did things...It’s just a thing that is happening because we’re grown and have decided that this is what we want. My parents have been our confidantes/guides from the start and support what we’re doing and so has his sister (his parents are deceased☹️).

We’ll be sending invites within the month to extended fam and friends.

I told my parents first but my friends who were their for it obviously knew about it first lol. My FH called them earlier the same day so they were waiting for a phone call later that night!

Some of my friends (my three close girlfriends) knew before my family! Only because they knew I suspected we'd get engaged that weekend.

I sent my mom the picture of the ring and wrote finally underneath lol so family!!

I called my mum and then texted a few friends and we told his parents later that day.

My parents, then his, followed by his sibling and finally my close cousins. After the news was received, we posted an instagram photo.

We were with my mom and step-dad (all out for a Christmas outing), so they found out minutes after. Then we called my dad, his parents, and my sisters. Then we messaged certain friends.

Once we both agreed everyone who should find out more personally knew, we did a social media post.

We Skyped our parents the next day (we were away for a weekend and our parents live on the other side of the world basically), after that I texted a couple of friends and about a week later we posted it to the rest on social media.

We were in Jamaica, so we FaceTime’d our parents right away! Then we told our friends 😊
