Which came first - Booking your ceremony venue or booking your reception venue?

Reception, we had it booked for a few months before deciding on a ceremony location

Neither came first, we found a venue that could accommodate both.

Initially we started looking for a reception venue first as most of your time will be spent there - but it's just so pretty why wouldn't we have the ceremony there too!

We knew that we didn’t want to get married in a church so we started looking at rustic venues that offered the opportunity to get married on site. Once we knew what style wedding we wanted it made narrowing venues down quite easy.

We had both celebrations at the same venue so that worked out perfect.

We booked our reception venue first because it was the most important to us and booked up the fastest!! But we did book our ceremony venue very quickly afterwards!

I had no preference on where we got married or had the reception, I left that up to FH because food is so important to him. We picked a beautiful hotel in our city and are having the ceremony at the same place.

We booked our reception venue first, then our ceremony site. I actually had a different ceremony site that I was convinced was "the one", but when we inquired it didn't suit our budget or timeline for the day. Now I'm so glad it didn't work out because the place we booked for our ceremony is gorgeous

As a matter of fact - we just booked our venue today! We’ll be getting married at The Gardens at HCP in Victoria. With thanks to wedding wire for helping us find it! ☺️

Same venue! Upstairs reception room, downstairs ceremony space. We were looking for reception venues first though. That was more important. We just found the perfect venue that had all in one!

We had no idea even which city to get married in, so we were all over the place with this one. Once we settled on my fiance's hometown, we decided his childhood church was the best choice. We choose the reception location later in the month.
