Thankk you for this I've been wondering for a while now too! I've read 6-8 months in a few places and I think that's a good aim!!

I would say between 6 to 8 months for a local wedding. For destination weddings I would give a years notice, so people can get their finances and work plans in order. But generally 6-8 months is good period of time.

I agree with everyone else, I've always heard 6-8 months ahead is most common, though it can be earlier if a lot of travel is involved or if it is around a holiday, and never more than one year in advance because people will lose them or forget! Have you chosen your Save the Dates already?

We did them about 9 months in advance. I would've liked to have given more time, but we were only engaged for 10 months! Even with 9 months, we still have many out of town guests who were not able to make it!

Between 8 and 12 months is a good time. 12 months if you have a lot more out of town guests and those who need to make travel plans, while if most of your guests are from the town you'll be getting married in about 8 months is satisfactory. You'll want to send your invites out between 3 and 5 months out, with an RSVP date about a month before.
