When did you start planning?

Lynnie, on October 23, 2018 at 16:51 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 18

When did you start wedding planning? Was it right away, or did you take some time to just soak in and celebrate your engagement?

A) I gave myself a little bit of a head start and already had some ideas pre-proposal!

B) I dove right in! There's no time to lose!

C) We gave ourselves a little time to enjoy the engagement first!

D) Taking my time! We've got a long engagement so there's no rush!

A! I had Pinterest boards ready to go but didn't really start planning until a couple months later after the holidays.

I’m inbetween A and C as my fiancé and I already began discussing things such as the guest list prior to our engagement.

    A!

We had our venue booked before he proposed. He had promised me a year to plan and then due to unexpected circumstances, wasn't able to. So, we at least booked the venue since those get taken fast. And, good thing we did, because we got the last Saturday at our dream location!

But, everything else I waited until after the engagement to plan.

    "A" all the way!!!

Oh thank goodness... I'm scrolling through the answers thinking... am I the only one who had multiple wedding scenarios planned out years in advance?? Haha. I'm the Pinterest queen for wedding ideas... plus I went to school for event planning, so I actually want to be a wedding planner...

My FH and I had been together for 5 years by the engagement... and we'd talked about it for about 3.5-4 years before that... Plus being a wedding nut? He had no chance Smiley xd We planned most of the wedding details and booked most vendors in the first few months of the engagement... now in the last 3 months it's time to execute the nitty gritty stuff.

I'm a bit of A, C and D! I had boards on Pinterest ready to go for when I ever got married but when we got engaged, we were on vacation so we didn't think about planning for a bit. We wanted to enjoy our vacation then when we got back to reality we slowly started looking at making plans. We picked our date and booked our venue and then took our time with everything else.

Now at the less than 1 year mark, I gotta start making the Pinterest wedding a reality lol

I'm 100% that photo posted hahah! Having a long term boyfriend got me in wedding heat before engagament and I already had a bunch of ideas when he proposed haha! I even showed him some before we were engaged! We waited a bit after engagement for any serious planning, for sure enjoyed the engagement as much as we could! Even though people started asking us questions like a week after we were engaged hahah!!

B and C. I did take the time to enjoy the engagement. Especially since he proposed while we were away on vacation. So I had the full week to enjoy it.

Once we came back I dove into venue searching as I wanted a specific time of year, and wanted to make sure I didn't just settle for whatever was available

    A bit of B and C.

a month or so after getting engaged I looked at venues/started pricing things out. but didn't book for another month or so. then we booked a lot of things in a 2 months span, just that way it would be done and no worrying. and I coasted all summer long. hahah

    C) We refused to answer any wedding-related questions for a good while before we started planning!

    D. All told, we'll be engaged for three and half years. I definitely started looking at things right away and getting myself organized, but there was never much urgency. Even now, with less than a year to go, I'm so far ahead of the game that I can take a bit of time!

I’m guilty of option A. I already had a Pinterest board that I’d started years ago and already had a few potential venues in mind. I was promised that the engagement would be this year so when I was told that I was too excited to not at least do some googling.

A!! We talked about marriage at our 7 month mark and I proposed at our 9 almost 10 month mark. So we already knew some things that we wanted and then got them set up right away (venue and food) at the 1yr and 9 month till the wedding mark.
