What was most important to you when choosing your venue?

Joey, on December 21, 2017 at 08:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 25

When you went on your hunt for the perfect venue, what was on your must-have list? Was it the style? Location? Views? The perfect spot for photos? Did you need it to be all-inclusive? Was it all about the size of the dance floor? What topped your must-have list when you were choosing your venue?

For me it was the fact there is only limited places near the church. it was the closest anything else would be over 20 minutes. it is only 12! Also, due to the ceremony location being kinda not near towns, there isn't anywhere to stay. The reception is a campground hall but off to side and then there is cabins, or you can bring trailer/tent. we will stay in a cabin and this way we can both enjoy the night and drink if we want and not worry about how to get home as it would be a min of half hour to anywhere to stay!

The most important thing to me when I walked in and realized i wanted to get married in a barn was the fact that it was instant butterflies. I saw the venue online (before i was even engaged, i was surrounded by friends and weddings! my friend who had just gotten engaged and my co-worker who was engaged) and just fell head over heels for idea.

We only visited one venue and that was it, I knew it was the space. I had done a lot of googling beforehand because we wanted somewhere that we could do the whole wedding in one space. Our venue is a bit on the pricey side at first glance but they are pretty all inclusive (venue, food, linens, chairs, glassware & plates, servers, bartenders, coordinator from day one to the big day, flowers & florist, DJ, set up & take down, lighting and sound, etc - even a room at the nearby high end hotel for the night).

Sure we likely could have done it cheaper but I love not having to worry about the details and having a co-ordinator to bounce things off of. Plus I find when you are putting together everything separately it seems like things are cheap but a little bit of money here and there and they all add up quickly - it was nice to know exactly what we were getting. We pretty much just have to bring our photographer and officiant.

Another great aspect of our venue (although not easy on payday) is our whole wedding is on a payment schedule so on the day we get married our entire day will be paid off and we will not be going in to debt for it. Its hard work and a lot of roman noodles to make those payments but we are making it work so we can enjoy our day and not worry about vendors needing to be paid

Oh and the venue is absolutely stunning!

We chose our venue based on being outdoors, activities for the guests and the view.
Another reason is the package that was offered for wedding. We got the chair set up and break down for the wedding. Apps for cocktail hour 5 choices, 4 course meal sit down, cut and serve cake service and late night buffet offered in the whole package. $115 per person and worth it.

Overall, the guests loved the venue and the building had lots of light coming through for reception and the seating on the patio was really nice to enjoy.

It was the dance floor and big enough space for 100 people and around 15 kids to be able to run around. One of the venues had beautiful view ( golf course) less than 2 km from our house but did not have a dance floor and that was a deal breaker for me since my family loves to party.

Yes! Finding one with good spots for photography was a higher selling point for us! And although at the moment it's not necessary for our venue to be wheelchair accessible, who knows down the road but we were lucky in that area too!

Our place was the same. They offered alternatives and such all on the original price. Plus we felt beyond comfortable working with them!

We wanted a place that we felt comfortable in and that offered us a rain plan included in the price so that we could rest easy about whatever the weather threw at us. That was pretty much it for us

We needed it to be wheelchair accessible. But then that specific family member didn't end up staying Smiley amazing
Distance to accommodations since we had a lot of guests travelling.
The price had to be right as well

It had to be within our budget and we wanted it to feel comfortable. It's a bonus that it's close to home (only 2 blocks) and has accommodations for our out of town guests.

I didn't have huge specifications! We chose a hall that we have been to on several occasions.

Budget was top on our list, then it was looking for a venue that was "us".

We were looking for something that was all inclusive and something that wouldn’t need a ton of decor. We plan to have little to no rentals or major decor peices!

I wanted a place that was all inclusive (linens, food, bar). Fiance wanted a place with great food.

The place we chose also has a ceremony space available (outdoor and indoor). It's centrally located. It has a head table backdrop available (one less thing to worry about!) It is the only hall in that building; there is a cafe but once it closes (around 5) we will be the only event happening so it will be nice and quiet. The hall also has the ability to be big or small (one hall split into three separate rooms). We chose two rooms for the size of wedding we are having. But, it was nice to be able to have that option of having a bigger wedding reception, or a more intimate one, if we wanted and have a space that fits the amount of guests.

We chose based of budget mainly. As of course when you slap the term "wedding" onto anything price will rise. Once we decided the venue had a reasonable price then we decided on space of the venue, what was around this venue that guests could kill time when we darted off for pictures. Food as well was key, not that everyone will remember the food but I would like for them to enjoy it. One other thing was would be the only wedding happening at the venue? As we booked a hotel banquet room there are some hotels that have multiple banquet rooms and we were told at one place that there could be other weddings right next door or across the hall from us. FH didn't like that happening so close to our wedding.

The final thing was how helpful the booking individual was, if he/she was extremely helpful willing to answer all and any questions that would be an amazing help. However if they gave us vague answers and weren't very helpful then that would be crossed out.

That's similar with us. The owner of the venue is also a wedding planner so she will help us out for the month of the wedding. She is so much like my mother do I felt 100% comfortable with the decision of choosing her and her venue!

I was getting married in a town that I wasn't familiar with (half way between our two families), so we booked a bunch of different places, barns, vineyards, hotels etc... We ended up choosing our venue because of the all-inclusive features, but also the planner who worked with our personalities. I wouldn't want to love the venue but not enjoy the process, so that was important to us.

We knew we wanted a winery, so that narrowed our list. From my perspective, I wanted all inclusive service - tables, chairs, linens, food, drink mixes and bartenders, servers, and ceremony/reception location all in one. I didn't want to have to coordinate any of those details, but leave them to the venue.

Our venue for perfectly into our budget. We both wanted a barn wedding more than anything! But finding a barn really close was not easy. So we did have to go further then we originally wanted. It has a beautiful barn down the street with perfect lighting for photos, the call it the photo barn lol. Really the only downside to it is that there are no onsite bathrooms, but luckily there is a company that does amazing trailer bathrooms for a very good price! As soon as I saw this barn everything else I thought I liked went right out the window! It has everything we wanted.

We really focused on location, something central for everyone to get to with ease and all inclusive as well. Our venue is also very private it only has 2 halls so a more intimate setting.

When we were venue hunting we wanted it to be close for the majority of our family and friends, not be overly expensive, and definitely all inclusive!
