What to do about signs?

Stephanie, on May 8, 2018 at 01:34 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9

I have no idea what signs I need, how I should make them, what they should say, what they should be on.

What is everyone doing for their signs? Making or buying? What are you using for them? What are they saying?

Thanks!

I haven't started working on signs yet, but I'll likely do them myself, although the friend who did my invitations offered to help (but she already did a lot of work for free, so I don't want to take advantage of her kindness).

    Here's what I'm thinking of:

    - Program at the church (instead of printing individual programs)

    - Card and guestbook table

    - Seating chart (although I've been thinking of using place cards instead, but that would still require a sign to explain that they have to put it in full sight for the servers to know their menu choice)

    - Reserved signs for the wedding party's chairs at the ceremony

I actually made word documents, and then exported them into JPEG format. With the picture format, I printed them off at Walmart and shoved them in a frame I already owned! Super cheap!

This is me setting up how my guest table will look (there will be more space between the globe and mailbox. You can see the sign I created to ask people to sign the guest book.

Overall the signs I have are:

    1. Welcome sign - this is a mirror that I used chalk markers to write on to welcome guests to the event.

    2. A Those we miss sign - I have a table in the entrance with pictures of our loved ones who've passed. I have a little picture frame sign with a poem there.

    3. A 'Where to go' sign - I found a chalkboard and this greets guests when they enter the foyer of our event with arrows of where to go.

    4. 'Sign our Guest book'

    That's it!

I designed mine as posters on Vistaprint, and will be using modge podge to attach them to heavy duty poster board. This costs me about 25% of buying them as backed posters from Vistaprint, and is easy to do.

We have the following signs for our wedding:

Pick a seat, not a side (Ceremony)What to do about signs? 2Welcome and thank you (Reception)What to do about signs? 3

Candy buffetWhat to do about signs? 4

We also have a chalkboard style sign for our Memorial table.

I'm also going to be making smaller, regular sized (8x11) signs for the bathroom baskets, bar menu (we don't need a large one because we are including the bar menu on the back of our welcome note at each place setting). Also for gifts/cards, place cards (which we are using in place of a seating chart), as well as for taxi numbers and one for the slip-on shoe basket I'm having for ladies who want to get out of their heels!

Others have mentioned more you may need: Hashtag, unplugged wedding, guest book and reserved signs for at the church/wedding venue for family.

We are doing 2 for sure. Both on either antique mirrors or glass/mirrored picture frames (as large as I can find and paint the glass to make it a mirror).
    - one will be our seating chart. Probably diy myself or have the wedding planner help
    - the second one will be our welcome sign except it will say “And so the adventure begins” or something along these lines. My mom has already offered to make this for us (she’s a great painter).

I used Etsy to buy all the pre-made signs and then printed them out at Staples. I purchased all the frames from Michaels or the dollar store depending on the size.

    -Hashtag Sign

    -Thank you sign

    -Seating Chart

    -Bathroom Signs for our baskets

-Candy Bar Sign (used a chalkboard for this one)

    -Cards and Gifts Sign

    -Guest Book Sign
