What has been the most surprisingly expensive part?

Photography, we went over budget on this but cutting costs in other areas was worth it.

Additional décor! My fiancé and I considered renting gold stemware, which would've cost us around $300 (plus a deposit!) for 50 guests, and that's the cheapest I've been quoted for.

The cost of the photographer and videographer really surprised along with the DJ. And why do you have to pay the hall to plug into their system when you are paying to rent their facility??

I thought it would be the price of food that surprised me but honestly it was the cost of flowers and decor! They've really jacked up their prices since I worked as a florist years ago lol

Photography!!! There is like NOTHING around me that is less than $1700 for 4-6 hours! It's insane!

The venue itself being as beautiful and by the waterfront area. The services included were amazing and the cost per person better than other venues looked at.

Flowers. Everything else I expected to be pricey but flowers are insane!

Nothing really surprised me price wise, I knew the weddings big or small can get pricy. But I think something that really does surprise people is the cost of flowers and decorations.

Honestly, nothing is really surprising me since I knew that planning a wedding would be expensive. I'm more surprised that my dollar isn't stretching quite as far as I'd hope it would in regards to décor lol.

Most expensive part is the venue and food!

I was shocked at how expensive photographers were. Luckily we found one that was close to my expected budget, but I still am shocked with people who pay a down payment on a house for their wedding photos.

Also, I'm surprised with how expensive I allowed my dress to be... I always thought I'd find one under $1500 MAX!... and bought one that was $2100... eek. But I love it I told my fiance I'll wear it doing housework every Sunday for the rest of our lives haha.

All he hidden costs. Open bar seemed cheaper till I noticed there is $2000-2,400 in extra taxes and service charges that wouldn’t be there for a cash bar. Fees for music at the church, fees for DJ to tie into av system at the reception, cake cutting, always seems to have another fee on top of everything.

I think the prices for flowers, hair and makeup surprised me the most.

I think I knew that things were expensive, so while I grumbled about pricing, I sort of expected it.

The most sticker shock I had was about live music when I was looking just for our ceremony.

Photography... Most charge at least $2000 for an 8 hour day or more!!

Taxes!!! On top of gratuities, taxes in Québec are quite high (14.975%), so even if you have a great venue with amazing prices, the taxes will just ruin that for you.

Drinks. I knew going to a more expensive venue they would charge a lot for alcohol, but it was still a bit of a shock at first.

I was expecting to spend a ton on food and alcohol, but I was shocked at the price they want for my bouquet alone... $300?!?! What?!?! Haha

How much the venue charges for the catering. I can't believe it's so expensive!

The fact that the easy wedding that is package deal all inclusive is way more money than it should be! When the venue is cheap they usually force you to use their food and alcohol which ends up being $40 a plate and $5 a drink.
