What does your guest list look like?

Amanda, on January 9, 2022 at 13:15 Posted in Plan a wedding 1 55

Are you hosting a huge bash or a more intimate celebration? Are your invites going to mainly friends, or family? How did you decide on the number of guests? I know everything with covid has changed a lot of couples plans

My fiance and I are having only close friends and immediate family attending our big day. No extended family, cousins of cousins etc. We both wanted a small wedding no matter what plus having our wedding in a different province made that choice so much easier! Our total number is 68

We're doing two ceremonies and no receptions. First ceremony is going to be immediate family only, itll be less than 30 people and that includes kids. We're also having a ceremony with our friends at the music festival we go to every year so we can have everything we want without judgment.

Despite my best efforts our list is getting close to 130, which means we’re on the hunt for a venue I still like that’ll hold that many. If I could it would be a VERY small wedding with only close friends & family

Covid chopped my guest list from 120 to 48. And it was the biggest blessing in disguise. Having only those close to me and my husband absolutely was a game changer. It was so laid back, intimate, no rush to try and speak to everyone. You truly don’t realize how overwhelmed you are on the day of until it happens. The small family feel really calmed everything down.

Well, this is both our second marriage. I got married i 2003 and he got married before in 2005. But this is beginning to feel like our first lol. At first, I was expecting a small wedding like 100 guests, But as we started writing our names down it kept growing and growing. So now we are at 200 guests but we can not exceed because our hall's max is 200. we are expecting maybe 160.00. Nowadays, people, definitely are not interested in large crowd gatherings, also if in July they still have mandatory vaccines to enter the hall that will also decrease our guest list. ,

I love smaller weddings because you can speak to everyone, my 1st wedding was 100 including my bridal party. I sat down got to eat, got to visit each table to say hi to guests.

this is our numbers with us still having no kids except for the best man and his sisters son , no plus one unless you are married or common law. it will be very interesting to see what the rules are in the summer.

We’re having 16 guests (our parents & their spouses, our siblings, 1 set of grandparents and 1 close friend each). Its going to be small but intimate 🥰 I wish we could add like… 1-2 more people but the venue max is 20 including the couple, officiant & photographer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our guest count was final at 72 after making adjustments or declined or no responses. On top of that, we had 4 vendors that had their meals covered as well.

The venue for a Friday or Sunday wedding was 75 count min. as Saturday was 100 at a higher price which didn't fit our budget. We didn't penalized for the 3 guests being a low number and felt good to celebrate with everyone present close to us as one didn't seem to have the same friendship after that given his change of attitude.

We’re having around 160 people invited to the wedding, and about 10-15 of those invitees are out of respect and we don’t expect them to come due to COVID, being in Europe, and being older.
I wanted around 130 people but our parents are helping us pay so we decided to honour the list of people they gave us. I asked my future in laws to cut their list down because initially we were over 220 people and that was much too large of an event for me (only 40 of them are my family).
So we went from 130 to 220 to 160. So I’m happy, our event space can hold 300 people so if we get cut to 50% capacity everyone can still attend Smiley smile

My FH and I have completely opposite lists- I have mostly family and as he has a very small family he has mostly friends. Our wedding will be a combination high school/family reunion.

I have 100 person guest list, I think 100 is pretty basic not too big or too small correct me if I’m wrong! Lol
But we will see how many of those people actually show there’s about 5-6 people that I think may not come due to being older and Covid.
You have to be vaccinated to goto my venue but that’s okay both me and my fiancés friends and family are all vaccinated. Our venue can hold 200 ppl so if anything happens with Covid I think we okay with the 50% capacity.
When deciding on guests I know some people find it hard to pick who can and can’t come or who shouldn’t or should come. I didn’t find that process hard it was one of the first things I did after booking my venue. I have a bigger family that I am close with, I have a smaller group of friends who are mostly in my wedding party. My fiancé has a big group of friends and a smaller family so our numbers were pretty even!
We only invited plus ones that we knew. We aren’t inviting children except for people who are in our wedding party have the option to, which we thought was fair.
I grew up with my grandparents on my moms side. so my parents aren’t going to be there it is more of my grandmas side of the family that I’ve been close with my whole life .. so people may call that extended family but to me they are my Immediate family! My fiancés parents are divorced so both sides of his immediate family and step siblings are invited.
The only tiny issue I have had is that my grandma who is helping financially (which I did not ask but accepted) has invited a few of her friends that are like family friends like we went on a couple trips with them when I was little but they are my grandmas friends not mine. It has made it a bit awkward for me to place them at a table where they don’t know anyone .. I kinda wish I didn’t have to invite them but it’s nothing I can change now, the save the dates have been sent lolBecause my grandma is helping financially I felt like she did have some sort of say in that.

    Oh yes. It is amazing!
My first small wedding was a friend’s and we travelled from Ottawa to Toronto/New market area. And it was so amazing! Like I fell in love with that one. It was outside under a big Woden canopy. She had the whole entire lot. A church/chapel on it, did her photos right there (had a bridge and big trees) and then her biggest styled outside. It was so simple and amazing!!

I get what you mean! I haven't been home in 2 years. Haven't see my close fried either! Even though my parents are here in edmonton with me, it's always nice to head back home. We always go in the summer for at least a month

We are around 200-250. We both have extended families and people from our church. Our parents are contributing to our wedding. They are paying for the families and people they wanted there (co-workers, elders from church...). They were reasonable so we didn't have a problem with that since we know these people since we were young and our parents are paying 😂😂😂

We are paying for our guests (people that my fiancé and I wanted like friends, bridal party, ect.)
It's a big list but less than the ones my cousins had when they got married. We have huge families with lots of cousins.
With COVID-19 restrictions I have no idea how this list will turn out but we don't mind if it's less.
We really just want to get married in July!
