Good afternoon everyone,

As promised, I wanted to give some information on wedding socials. Wedding socials are very popular in Manitoba. It is a great way to raise money for your wedding but always another way to have a big party with everyone as well! Smiley smile

These are can be held at anytime of the year and usually are done about 1 year or even up to and including on the day the couple is getting married.

The fun part of socials, you can have any types of themes, such as Halloween, Valetine's, Beach theme, hockey, etc.

Here are some links for those who are interested in having a wedding social. Please make sure that you find out from your province the rules and regulations of throwing a wedding social in your area. The link provided is from Manitoba and Liquor and Gambling Association of Manitoba:

    Hi Emilie,I'm still working on the details of the wedding social but I'm thinking if it is possible to find a caterer, food truck or cooking finger food for both the Italian and the Jamaican foods. I will post a menu idea for the food and for the bar side, it will be limited bar for the guest and complimentary drink tickets for the wedding party as they are helping our, and to show our gratitude.

    Hey Simone!! Smiley heart Although I wouldn't like to spend the whole party in jail, I think the jail idea is really funny!! I'm sure it's going to make the party a lot of fun! Smiley laugh

    I love Jamaican food, you should post your menu ideas so we all get inspired and of course, drool over the images!! Smiley love

    You could also have different types of dinner instead of having a full meal:

    And it's also good to think about if you will want to serve alcohol at your party:

    Will you have a limited bar or an open bar?

    When will your wedding social be? Will you cook your own meals or order from a caterer?

    Hi Emilie, we are inviting 200 people to our social. I will check out the link. A co-worker suggest creating a jail and charge $2.00 to put a person in jail and $3.00 to pay for there release, which I thought was funny but yet clever. My background is Jamaican and his background is Italian. We are looking at possible cold cuts with some Jamaican food, not sure on the Italian cuisine at the moment. But I would ideally like to have both cultures for food represented at the social.

    Hi Emilie,

    You are welcome. I have not sure if I am going to have a theme for our wedding social but I am looking at a possible cultural theme (Jamaican and Italian theme to represent our hertiage!). But I am having our social held at a community club that can hold 200 people.
