Wedding party transportation

Vanessa, on July 18, 2018 at 10:03 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13

Hey everyone!

Looking into transportation for the wedding day and wondering how long you need to book transportation for on the day? There are a few that offer 12 hours, do we need that long or just enough to get us to the reception? I've seen a few discussions of people saying they are just asking family for their cars or getting a ride on their own but we have quite a large bridal party so I want to make sure we have adequate transportation.

I think most of you are right, 5-6 hours should be enough.

    Thanks for all the feedback!

If you have a large bridal party and are leaving to go somewhere else for pictures between the ceremony and reception then group transport is probably best. That way everyone gets from point a to point b together and your not waiting around for people who decide to detour between the two.

As as for how long. Well that depends on what you need transportation for. I would look at the time you need to move people and give yourself a bit of a buffer in case things get delayed along the way. We are only 2 minuets between venues and our bridal party is only 4 people total so we will arrange for a few family members to drive for us.

    Youll have to consider:

Are you having it bring the wedding party to the ceremony? Maybe just you and the girls?

How is the wedding party getting home after the reception? Will they have cars left there or will they need rides home?

How long is the gap between your ceremony and reception?

What at is the price difference between what you need and the 12hr package? Also do they let you do a set hour or do you have to go by set intervals of time?

The location is something they may let you know about. Can't say for any conpany. Inquire and see with your budget.

But when they come to pick up won’t they notice the difference. And charge extra at that point.

I don’t think you will need 12 hours, unless you want them to transport bridal party to a hotel at the end of the night. When we were looking, we thought we would just use it for getting ready location to ceremony and then ceremony to pictures and back. Our reception and ceremony were at the same place, so we didn’t need it for that.

For us, we only needed transportation to our venue as both our ceremony and reception are in the same location. So we got 1 limo to make 4 trips, the guys then the girls then my immediate family, and then his immediately family. In total we have the limo for 2 hours.

For the end of the night from a separate company we booked school buses to make multiple trips. Everyone will be from out of town and we wanted to make sure no one drove back to the hotels.

Just a caution to all couples when booking a limo and i saw this on a documentary. Mention the word ANNIVERSARY, not wedding cause they will want to charge you more. 4 hours is the starting for most conpanies and then some others may have longer timing. Booking limos go fast and about 6 months ahead period.

It depends on your rental company. At that time of year for us, there is no minimum, so we are only doing one hour, one way, from the reception to our hotel for just my hubby and me.
Many companies have a 4 hour minimum in peak season.
I think what the others were mentioning is, unless you're dead set on wanting limos for everyone, look into alternatives. Lots of people dont do traditional bridal party transportation anymore. Just due to the expense and it can be unnecessary.
If you are gonna do it though, figure out your day of timeline, at least when you'll be traveling to different locations, and see how long it is from the first "move" to the last "move". For example, if you need to be picked up at noon, and you need to get to the reception for 5.30pm, but you'll find other transportation after, get 6 hours. If you want one limo to stay for you guys at the end, get one for the 12 hours...

We booked our Party Bus quite in advance.

Our wedding is this August and we booked in October '17 and there were already people who had put deposits down on different buses that day!

The owner said it's always good to get your deposit in as soon as you know the amount of people especially if your wedding falls on peek wedding/prom season!

You may want the longer service so that the transportation can bring you all at the same time to ceremony/picture locations/reception.

Ours is all day service and also late night pick up to bring us to our hotel after the wedding is said and done Smiley smile

    best of luck!

Limo services are expensive and charge by the time needed and then by the hour.

Wedding party can car pool. Ask one MOH and BM to drive you both to the location. Family members can drive over knowing they have a way back home.

My btother spend so much on a limo to arrange for his wife the day of and it didn't feel it was worth it.
