Wedding Invites

Breanne, on July 19, 2019 at 15:42 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9

Hi Everyone!!!

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this situation.

We are getting some “no” responses for our RSVPs. When we originally did up our guest list, we had to cut some people in order to make sure we are obeying venue occupancy restrictions.

I’m wondering what the proper protocol/etiquette is when it comes to inviting additional guests after inviting the majority of the guest list.

Also, how would you handle RSVP deadlines? Our original deadline is August 1st, for our first batch of invites.

I appreciate any insight! Thank you!

I didn't do a B-list since the # of guests invited (140) was higher than my target # (120) so if 20 people come back with no's I'm fine with it. I'm only gonna get worried if we dip below 90 since our room rental fee is waived with a minimum number of guests, but fingers crossed that doesn't happen!!

I didn’t do an A list/ B list. We just had a smaller wedding. I think it’s weird to invite someone late-seems like an after thought to me. But, it is becoming more popular. I think as long as you get the second round of invites out four months ahead, that’s still an acceptable time to invite people to a wedding

Hardly anyone RSVP's by our deadline date so I had to send a bunch of messages reminding everyone. I also sent out extra invites as people said they couldn't come! nothing wrong with that Smiley smile

I have the same deadline as you- people who gave firm no's i went and invite some people we wanted but couldn't have- they were invited to reception already and happy invited to rest of day.

This is why I had 2 rounds of invitations! I would say that seeing as how it is so close to being August 1st though I would send out or hand out the new invitations with a deadline of August 15th at earliest RSVP date and August 21st as the latest so that you have final numbers at the 1 month mark.

Some people do A list and B list, but they send out the first batch in advance giving them enough time to send out the second string. You will definitely have to amend your August 1 RSVP date if you plan to invite additional guests though. You still need to give people enough time and you don't want feelings to be hurt when they see the date is a week after they get an invite - they will know they are a second thought.

Now that you have your A list coming back with NO responses for your deadline, it seems your B list can be sent out to have the same deadline for August 1 keeping the month ahead for guest count.

If you have room and want to invite more, then go ahead and send them out! Like Kelsie said you could make the end of August the deadline for the next batch you send out

You can definitely send out “B” list invites. If you send them out now you could do end of August as your deadline.
