Wedding dress shopping on a budget

Phoebe, on January 24, 2018 at 17:40 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14

Hi ladies!

My wedding dress budget is about $500. Has anyone ever been successful at finding a dress at that price? If so, how did you do it? Also, has anyone ordered a wedding dress online? From where and what was your experience like?

TIA!

My friend was able to get her dress for about $300 as she was on a strict budget...she found a dress in the store off the rack.

Keep an eye out for Opportunity Bridal, I went to the London show not too long ago and every dress is under $900! It was first dress shopping experience, I didn't buy anything, but they have a great selection. The thing is, you buy the dress as is, so you might need to find somewhere to do alterations. I think they are going to some BC cities

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I'm going to a dress dash in February and all dresses will be $150. Wish me luck!

Check with dress shops for sales. My friend bought hers at a giant spring sale in Ontario and her brand name dress was $100.

My sister had a bridesmaid dress in white at her destination wedding. It was absolutely beautiful and was less than $400.00

Check out BHLDN for some cheaper options. Some of the bridesmaids dresses would definitely work as a wedding dress! I ordered my wedding outfit (bridal separates) from them for a decent price.

Check the Facebook marketplace groups, usually brides resale their dresses, i am part of the Wedding Swap/Sell - SW Ontario group, brides resale anything used for their ceremony or reception on this site, great for resale of dresses and centerpieces.

I would check out consignment stores and the sales rack at bridal salons.

No I wasn't...my budget was $500 as well but after shopping I realized it was not ideal to get a dress that I liked in that price range. My dress after taxes cost about $1,100 no alterations yet. So I'm estimating about $150-$200 for alterations (haven't met with seamtress yet)

Don't get me wrong there are some beautiful dresses in that price range but David's Bridal (Calgary) didn't have what I wanted.
