Venue - Splurge or Save?

Lynnie, on August 19, 2019 at 10:27 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 25

Are you going all out on your wedding venue? Or did you pick a location with an attractive price tag??

Are you splurging or saving on your venue?

Depends on how you feel. For me, I would most definitely splurge on the photography than the venue, because photos are a lifetime, the venue is one night!!

Up to you in the end, whatever makes you feel happier Smiley smile

    Save! BIG time

Our family friend has a barn, for our rustic, country wedding. Where they host their own events too.

Which she is a saint and supplying us with basically everything we may need.

This was a big ole splurge for us. We love one of the hotels in Saskatoon and they do weddings so we are having our reception there. We have to use their caterer so we're splurging for food too!

We splurged. It was within our budget but venue was one of our top three so we had budgeted more for it

I guess we splurged, only because it could have been free. The park we are eloping in is mostly city land. The bylaw doesn't require a permit for what we are doing (gathering and photography with 10 or fewer people) I really want to get married on this deck over water within the garden, and unfortunately it is owned by a different entity which does require a permit.
FH wanted to just stick to the area we could use for free, but I splurged and paid for the permit.
(Our photographer thought it was funny that I was making sure we had proper permits - he says he has never heard of anyone actually paying for them before)

We saved so much by picking the venue we did- they supply the chairs, tables, all dishware. The cost of the venue was more expensive than most but we also have it the whole weekend and saved on a huge amount of rentals!

We saved. Compared to other venues their pricing was way under. If having sleeping accommodations available for out of town guests wasn't important to me I could have paid less.

    Splurge, I guess.

I mean, we didn't go over our budget for it. We picked something that we liked and was reasonably priced. It's definitely the most expensive thing in our budget, since it included the venue, food and bar!

Splurge! This was probably the #1 thing most important to us. We both had a certain vision in mind of our venues and understood it would set the tone for our whole wedding so we didn't really hold back at all. We also knew beforehand that Toronto had to be the city and choosing Toronto alone is already going to jack the rates up lol.

Somewhere in between for us. We toured and inquired about other places that were far more expensive than the one we ended up choosing but it's still a hefty chunk of change. It includes almost everything we need though so we'll save big time on rentals and things.

We ended up somewhere in the average for venue but our venue is all inclusive so they make more money on the other stuff than they do actually renting the rooms.

Saved and got a good bang for our buck.

Originally, we thought (saving the food) this would be the next biggest expense, but it really wasn't. We paid $500.00 which includes the outdoor area and an indoor event spaces all day with all the tables, chairs, basic white linens, etc. It was less than most of the community centres in the area were equal or more than that without the chairs and tables included. Picture of the space below

Splurged. Venue (including catering & bar) is about half the budget, but they include pretty much everything: ceremony pergola (with a water feature!), patio, reception space, tables, chairs, linens, fully-stocked bar. And because we meet a certain threshold in F&B, there are no room rental charges, including a bridal suite for the day.

I feel like it's a splurge - considering that we'd be happy with a beach/backyard wedding lol. We also wanted something all-inclusive since we are planning from a distance so that increased pricing. Our ceremony space really drew me into our venue lol

We splurged. Venue was one of the most important aspects of our day for us. We wanted a venue that we really loved and wasn't just a space for the reception.

Our venue is well over half of our budget to date, but worth it I think.

We tried really hard to save but the venue that was cheaper wasn't available so we are kind of splurging a little. I think it's a little worth it because it is so much nicer anyway.

We splurged big time! The budget was reasonable and perfect towards what we got from the venue offerings. The location being isolated away from everything possible and having time with family and friends mattered as the activities that were available at no extra cost including the bonfire at night.

We splurged. Our venue is over half of our budget, it includes food too though. We really love our venue and it's so beautiful so it's worth it for us.

We splurged for sure! Our venue is pricey, but that is because the food is outstanding and it is a beautiful venue. The venue is a restaurant, so the food was part of the splurging and the venue space itself is "free" with a F&B minimum spend.

I would say we are saving. Our venue includes a ton of stuff, so we don’t have to worry about chair rentals, linens, catering, bar.

We splurged! We loved it so much and we were able to get it for the entire weekend for the price of a Saturday wedding!

Plus, they allowed outside catering so we were able to save there to make up for it!
