Veil or no Veil?

Kim, on September 28, 2018 at 13:43 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 19
Just curious how many are wearing a veil... or Not? I have never pictured myself wearing one and so I never bothered to try one on when I bought my dress. But now EVERYONE (including my photographer) is disappointed I won't be wearing one. We're not having a traditional wedding, it's in a pub and were not doing any of the dances or anything like that. I'm second guessing my decision though now haha

I wasn’t going to wear a veil, but my dress is light pink so adding a Light pink veil really gave it that “bride factor”.

I actually had two! A cathedral veil for the ceremony and elbow length for the reception!

I'm wearing a chapel length veil.. didn't think I would, but then I kept seeing all of these beautiful photos with big long veils in them and changed my mind!

When I tried on my dress, I loved it, but when I put the veil on too it's like it took it to a whole new level. It made it perfect!

I'm not going with a veil and I'm also facing the issue where everyone is disappointed. Go with your gut and do what you want. Your happiness is more important than pleasing others on your day.

I was torn about getting a veil but I kept seeing gorgeous pictures with cathedral length veils so I tried some on and found they were too much. Then they put me in a super simple elbow length veil and I loved it. I’m only wearing mine during the ceremony and a few pictures then taking it off

I like the idea of a veil, but every time I tried one on, it looked 'too much' with the dress. Instead, I'm thinking of adding flowers to my hair comb and keep it simple.

I always knew I wanted a veil. I tried a plain, raw edge cathedral length veil when I bought my dress, and looooved it... but never thought I'd spend $250 on a veil. So I went back a couple months later looking at fingertip length veils.

When I went to show my mom my dress when it came in, we tried the cathedral length again, and she just said "yepp". Right away. No question. It was more than I thought I'd pay, but it's perfect.

It's a total personal preference. Maybe try a veil with your dress? If you don't get a giddy, "I must have this" feeling... don't worry about it. It's your wedding, not your friends or photographers... They can wear veils for their wedding Smiley laugh

I decided to order a long plain one, because that’s what I tried on with my dress. I figure if I don’t love it I can order another one, lol. I’m so happy you told me about the sequins one! There were three I was wanting to pick from: plain, sequins on the edge and lace on the edge. I should have just ordered them all because your idea of selling them is great! I’m not sure if I love the length of mine, but because there’s no edging, it would be easy to alter and make a bit shorter. Glad you like it, thanks for letting me know

Yes!! I was a little hesitant as the reviews for dresses werent the BEST? But I thought a veil was worth the chance for that price! But the quality is REALLY NICE!!! it is easily on par with the $300 veil I was looking at at David's Bridal! I actually bought 3 from JJs house cause I couldnt decide hahha! But I got them all and picked a final! The only thing I didnt like was one of the had sequins and i didnt find they looked very classy... more cheap looking but that was just the sequins and not the overall veil! Very happy i decided to buy a veil from them I've saved so much money and so happy with what I got! Also I plan to sell the other 2 veils I wont wear so no money wasted!

That’s where I bought mine too! $26 for something that would have costed me $180 in store lol. Did you get yours in yet? I hear the quality is amazing, but I’m curious to hear from someone if it’s true

I have seen a lot of brides who don't do veils . I'm not doing a veil as I have tried a few and they didn't feel right, and when I bought my dress I didn't even think about a veil

I will be!! Alrwady bought it too! (JJs House online for $25!!) I love the look of them they're just so elegant for photos and walking down the aisle! I will be ditching it for the reception tho! Also my FH wants to flip my veil back when I get to the alter with him!

I have a birdcage veil, but sometimes I feel like I'm missing out not having a "conventional" veil. I might get a cheap fingertip one just to see if I like it.

I decided to wear one, I love that "full bridal" look that it adds (not saying you look less bridal without, because you don't!). My fiance also loves the veil look. I tried on a bunch during dress shopping and absolutely loved all of them! Haven't bought one yet but I definitely will be!

I am - I always imagined a cathedral length veil - sadly, I tried it and it doesn't work with my dress. Instead, I'm going with a fingertip veil - I bought a plain one second hand and inexpensive - My mom's hand beading the edge for me!

I never thought I'd wear a blusher, though - but my fiancé specifically asked me to, so I am now!

I opted for no veil as I had a wrap and didn't want them conflicting. I wore a jeweled hair comb though and felt no less a bride with it. (I also bought a tiara but opted for the hair comb instead).

I did NOT want a veil.... until I tried one on with my dress. Lol. Now I can’t imagine not having one. I will wear it for the ceremony and some photos then take it off for the rest of the night. Maybe go where you got your dress, try it on again with a veil? You might find you don’t like it at all or you might love it

I will be! (weather permitting and all)

If you can find one for cheap enough I say go for it - even if it is just for pictures. I have always imagined walking down the aisle with my face covered by my veil and then having it be uncovered for me Smiley smile Just something that I have pictured, but if you haven't then there is nothing wrong with skipping out on it.

Here are a few pictures to keep in mind to decide if it would be something you want (even if just for pictures).
