Use it or lose it? - A hotel block

Joey, on June 17, 2019 at 08:43 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 28

Are you helping your guests find a place to stay by booking a block of rooms at a local hotel, or will you trust them to sort out their own accommodation without your help?

A hotel block of rooms - will you use it or lose it?

    We're using it!

Most people are coming from out of town and the hotel provides a shuttle to the reception space, so that worked out nicely.

Losing it. Our venue isn't a hotel or connected to a hotel. We've suggested a few good hotels in the area on our wedding website for out of town guest, but, with a lot of the hotels here if you reserve a block and no one books, you have to pay for all the rooms you reserved.

Definitely using. Our whole wedding venue was based on ease for our guests. Even some local guests will be getting a room for the night. Our venue is a hotel how much more convenient can you get than walking to your room after the reception

Use it! Our block throws in free shuttle to and from venue and hotel if we secure 15 rooms.

Use it. My FMIL was driving me nuts with this, so I went ahead and arrange several room blocks (for their guests mostly).

Use it. Our venue is at an inn so they reserve all of their rooms for wedding guests up to a certain point. And a lot of our guests will be coming from at least a couple hours away.

Use it. We had a quite a few out of town guests. Most people ended up renting Airbnb’s but a few used the hotel blocks

Lose it. No one was planning to stay for the night for so long and the week before the wedding everyone decided too! There was 2 other weddings happening so that hotel was fully booked after a few days.

Using it. It's just a little more helpful for the guests and it gives them a discount if they book in our block.

I still have to do some research but most likely use it - or at least provide some suggestions on places to stay within different budgets. 80%+ of our invite list is from out of town and will need accommodation for at least one night, but probably 2.

Lose it. I'm sorry but I ave enough stress right now than to worry about where everyone is staying, the out of town guests all used to live here so they know their way around haha. maybe that's rude of me but its another thing I didn't care to worry about

Definitely used it as 75% (maybe more) of our guests are from out-of-town. Our venue is a hotel so we just made a block there.

We have a good portion of guests that are from out of town. We opted for a non-binding block, which meant that the flat rate was offered until space was filled. This way, we weren't financially responsible for rooms that weren't booked.

Lose it. All our guests are in town, with the exception of my sister who is coming from the other side of the world. Other than her, everyone is close enough to their homes, or family members that a hotel block is not needed

Use it! It helps to give your guests discounts on the room rates and to let you know whos booked and which room to put them in or in by the hotel itself. Plus having everyone there is so much easier and to arrange transportation needed to the venue(s).
