True or False - My partner is as involved in planning as I am

Joey, on April 22, 2019 at 08:56 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 36

When it comes to crossing things off your to-do list, making decisions, and putting in the effort needed to plan your wedding, is your partner an equal partner?

My partner is as involved in planning as I am: true or false?

True! My partner is perhaps *more* involved than me! He is very “if you’re happy, then I’m happy” for most of it, but he was still the first to start researching (& to sign up for wedding wire!).
He has taken the initiative to contact potential vendors for venue/catering/bartending and came up with some of the major ideas for the wedding. While I cared more about the venue, large guest list, and photography, he is excited to organize the food, the drinks, and the rest of the vendor contacting (a blessing since that’s not my cup of tea). I am excited to share my ideas with him, and to hear his. While I’m usually a control freak, I’m honestly really happy how much he’s taken on in the planning so far. I’m the one who proposed so I’m excited that he’s so excited Smiley smile

False - He is only involved in the part that require him. for example he did not come with me to the florist or decor rentals but he has been present for meeting with venue, photographer, DJ, officiant ect.

False. I asked fiance what kind of chips he wanted for our engagement party and he deliberated for 5 "stressful" minutes before deciding on plain. He would rather I plan everything lol

    False.

We definitely have the final decisions together on anything big, but I would say I did more of the research heavy things (like photographer and venue). We split up a lot of the remaining stuff, but I'd still say it's 70/30 split.

I think he might feel a bit guilt over it now, because he says, once we decide where to go on the honeymoon, he'll do all the leg work on it.

I feel like he’s probably not as excited as I am? But I do run through some things with him, especially with the decorations and foods and he gets excited. Aside from that, not so much.

False! I run small things by him but for the most part he doesn't care. He has his task list and I have mine and the only thing that is on both are the DYI projects. He is involved enough that he knows general info but he doesn't know our vendors names or any timelines or anything lol

True. I run everything by him and he has chosen things such as the designs for our ribbon shirts/skirts, caterer, officiant, DIY projects, etc. I’m so glad he’s so involved

False. The only thing this guy cared about was the first look (a very vocal NO). I thought he'd care about music and the car, but he passed those off to his younger brother. The only thing he's been involved in has been his suit selection.

Mostly false. He is equal in final decisions, and has picked a few items that he wants to take the lead on (music, transportation day of) but otherwise happy to let me plan out my vision and just check in with him regarding budget and if anyone is driving me crazy Smiley tongue

FALSE! It so nice to hear that MANY future husbands skipped out on many aspects of the planning process! My husband handled the music, our thank you speech, and dressing himself! I tried to include him as much as possible, but quite honestly he just wanted to get married, he didn't really care what the event was decorated... Smiley winking

False! He gives his input and is there when I go to the venue or meet with a vendor. But any of the little details I work on. I just make sure to run everything by him before things are confirmed!

False! He's come to all the meetings for the ticket vendors and I don't make big decisions without running it by him, but he's definitely more the 'if you're good with it, then I'm good with it' kind of guy. Sometimes it's a little irritating but at the end of the day I'm too much of a control freak to delegate anyway.

False...he's involved but not nearly as involved as I am. I do 100% and he assists with some things. He wants to be as involved as possible but majority of the things he just doesn't get...lol

False. I do most of the leg work. I've tried delegating items to him, but he keeps forgetting. So now I just ask for his opinion/feedback.

False. I feel at this point all he has to do is show up and be dressed haha. He will give me his opinion if I ask him something, or he will just do the typical guy thing "I don't know, do whatever you like".

False. For the most part, it was me searching and talking to the vendors to get pricing and making sure all the information was provided overlooking every detail.

Towards the end, my husband decided to put of the cost into the wedding and helped out that way. He wanted nothing to do with any of the communication of vendors or planning information except the guest favours and backdrop.

True. We’re 50/50 in the decision making process. I typically do the research and lay out a few options and then we decide together.
