Traditional or Twist: Father Walking You Down The Aisle?

I thought it will be nice to join this thread. I am doing something a bit different since this is my 2nd marriage but still young. My Dad and step dad can take a break this time I have 2 children and they will be 15 and 27 next year when we get married (daughter and son.) I will be asking them to walk me down the aisle.

My soon-to-be-father in law is walking me down the aisle. My father and I had a very strained relationship and although I thought about including him when the time came, he actually passed away two weeks before we got engaged.


I have known my soon to be father in law for many years. He actually dated my mom- and that’s how I met my FH. Weird story I know. But we just thought it would make the most sense- and he approached me about it, saying he couldn’t imagine not walking me down❤️ It was very sweet.

We joke about who might pass out and have to catch the other mid-way down the walk. (We have a slightly dark sense of humour )

Twist! My brother is walking me down the aisle. My father has also been out of the picture for the past 10 years of my life, so it was a toss up for me to either have my brother or my uncle walk me down. My uncle being one of the closest father figures I have, but chose my brother because I wanted him to be a part of my special day by giving him one of the most important roles! He would also be servery upset with me if i didn't!

I will be doing a Mother-Daughter dance in lieu of a Father-Daughter dance as well!

I guess it's a bit of a twist, my mom will be walking me down. My dad hasn't been in the picture for about 7 years and even before that my mom was really an only parent so it was only ever gonna be her

Twist - there's no aisle to walk down, so nobody will be walking me anywhere. Everyone will just gather around.

My mother walked me down as hubby's aunt walked him down.

This is one of the only traditions we're following, unless my dad's mobility issues make it hard for him to walk me down the aisle

I will likely have both of my parents, one on either side of me. My mom essentially raised me alone, so I want to honour her, but I want my dad there also.

If I could have had it my way I would have had my late step-dad walk me down the aisle alongside my bio dad. But so very fortunate to still have him to walk me and he is looking forward to that moment!

Im blessed to still have my father with me. He is looking forward to this day as well.

I thought about just walking myself. My mom wants me to ask my step dad. I think if I ask my step dad I'll have my mother as well
