Thoughts on wedding co-ordinators

Ariel, on September 4, 2017 at 18:29 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
Hey ladies ! so the wedding isn't until sept. 2018 but theres soooo much to do and im worried that I will forget something, or not know where to get the products/other items i need for the wedding day... So, i wanted to know what you all think of a wedding co-ordinator? Im not sure if i will need one, but im super particular and over think everything, so maybe having one would be good (keep me focused/on track)? What are your thoughts... we have a day of co-ordinator provided by the venue... but are seriously thinking that we need someone to help us gather things and plan appropriately before the wedding day! Would love to hear what other brides did or feel about it Smiley smile

Wedding coordinators are awesome and super helpful. They offer differing levels of service, so there's full service, consultation, and day-of. Consultation sounds like its the right level of help for you, so you can talk to them in advance, get a check list, and then have someone to help out on the day of.

After I planned our engagement party for 90 ppl we decided to find it in the budget for a DOC. The one we hired who is also our decor person actually helps out 1 month before as well! There was no way we were going to enjoy our wedding with 225 guests if I had to be running around all over the place. My cousin that got married this past weekend said hiring a DOC was the best decision she ever made. She had about 350 ppl. In the GTA I found prices started around $900 and went up from there. We paid $1300 for ours. If it's something you are thinking about, ask your vendors directly if they can recommend someone, you can sometimes get a better price .

It really varies quite a bit. Some charge a percentage of the final cost of the wedding (10% is what I had found), others charge a flat fee based on number of guests. We paid $2,000 which is after doing some shopping around and going with who we felt comfortable with handling things for us.

I do may need someone extra for the big day. The venue does supply a co-ordinator for the day of, my worry is that what I to put out, will not be put out how I want it.

So far I have been doing well with knowledge that I have aquired over the years, and this site has been a Godsend, not just the budget, and planner, and all the other wonderful things it has in it, but the wonderful brides that are sharing their knowledge and asking their questions, posting their pics and videos. I love being part of this special community, it has helped so much.

    Hey Ariel!

Fellow Sept 2018 bride here Smiley smile

I just hired a day of coordinator for my wedding as my venue does not offer one. She is going to help me in the last few months of planning and then help from the rehearsal dinner to the morning after and everything in between.

I want my day of to be as stress free as possible for myself, fiance and family. Because I am a DIY bride and am saving a lot of money by doing projects myself to help cover the cost for her services.

I spoke with a few friends who have recently been married and they all said that was the one thing they wish they would have booked.

    Happy planning Smiley smile

I found this site incredibly helpful! In total by my wedding I will have had 5 months to plan. The app made it so easy to check and keep track of everything I need to do. I don't personally feel coordinators are necessary, I think the money could go to better things.

My one splurge for my wedding was a wedding planner. They did all the tedious things and came back to me woth choices and all I had to do was pick what I preferred. I absolutely also gave my input and preferences, but the hard stuff and tedious stuff really helped me out. I didn't feel stressed and had time to still go about my every day life.
