When my fiancé and I got engaged back in 2019, we had no idea that our wedding planning would be so challenging yet humbling. When we initially got engaged, we had allotted the two years of planning and set the date for 2022 to allow time to save. We were in no rush as we were 23 at the time, and had already been together for 8 years.
COVID happened. We've now moved twice. I've had two jobs, and now we're talking about starting a family. It's been a ride and a half with restrictions on and off, but in a few weeks we'll finally be married.
My dress has been the part I've been dreading a lot. I haven't got a lot of family around to go through the motions with, so picking my dress out was slightly depressing. I was very discouraged. The dress is something I've always dreamt about. It's something I have control over; covid or not. I picked one out online, but turns out the discontinued it. I then had to pick out the next runner up. Heirlooms in Dundas, ON ordered it online through Pronivias for me back in April 2021. Expected delivery at that time was November 2021. It was then delayed twice by Pronovias, without explanation. We all assumed it was due to COVID. Turns out it was actually lost in transit. Typically I would be upset, but Heirlooms doesn't have control from that end of things. My only complain with the shop was because I had to follow up myself, and sometime they would fail to call me back. Here we are in January 2022.. and she's finally here.
The Della:
When I arrived at the shop for the initial fitting, Heirlooms was kind enough to pay for my alterations as a courtesy because of Pronovias' the delay due to losing my first gown (which would have cost me aprox. $800.00). They've indicated that my alterations will be done in just 4 days. I'm completely blown away at the way they've handled the situation. I'm even more blown away by the dress. I can't wait to see it with the alterations.
We may not be able to even have our reception due to restrictions.. but I know the ceremony will be everything I wanted and more, and I'll end up married to the one, in the one.
Thank you Heirlooms for everything.
