Take down at end of night

Jennalyn, on November 23, 2016 at 04:13 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 13

I was just reviewing my venue contract and i just noticed that it says everythein has to be take after the event. that night. I'm a little worried as to how logistic of that will work out. I don't really think My future husband and I will want to be packing everything up into cars when the party is done. And i'm sure the majority of our family/frieds will be drinking and porb wont be able t move stuff. any suggestions? I have planned everything myself so i dont have a wedding planner or decorator to take down.

That is great! Do you have to provide them with a list so they know what to pack up?

Update: I just had my final details meeting at venue and asked about this. The venue staff will take down everything and pack it up and take it to the front lobby and assist packing it into a car/truck this is a huge relief not just have to ask which parents will have their car there to load into

Oh that is not fun at all , hopefully your bridal party will all pitch in and help in the take down if you cannot arrange take down for the next day with your venue... I made sure I had my venue from friday morning to sunday evening worked into my contract ... hopefully your venuw will work with you and for an extra fee let you do tear down in the morning ??

We had to do this the night of for my brother's wedding, including all the liquor, decorations stacking the chairs and everything, there were lots of people who weren't tasked with it that stayed and helped and we got it all done. If you don't have family or friends you trust with this you can get a "day of" wedding planner/coordinator that can handle all of it for you.

We didn't do a "grand exit" but we had thought we were going to leave the reception early so my family/bridesmaids were going to pack up all the decorations for us. We did end up staying to the end though and the serving staff actually went around and collected the centrepieces and other decorations for us and then my family and bridesmaids just had to load it up into the car. I'm actually glad that we were still there at the end because we got to say goodbye to everyone and I had piece of mind knowing that they got everything!

If you do have family or your wedding party collect the decorations for you, I would recommend giving them a checklist so that they know what they need to pack up. Make sure to include quantities! (Ex: 25 mason jars, 10 centrepieces, 4 chalkboards, etc) I had a friend who got married and she made these chalkboard signs that got left behind and she didn't know until after the honeymoon so unfortunately she never got them back.

Some venues will have a cleaning fee they will charge. If not call some cleaning companies and see if they would consider wedding clean up?

It sucks that you didn't know about this sooner!

I don't really have any suggestions, but I have been in two weddings where we had to do tear down after, and it wasn't so bad. The whole bridal party pitched in and if each person does a few tables and a couple of others gather the up high things and other items, it was quick! Have storage bins to put it in and they are easy to carry out!

Or as Em suggested you can see if your venue will do it for a fee.

I've been worried about the same issue. I'm going to ask the venue if I can pack everything up neatly and pick it up in the morning (or have someone else pick it up). Hopefully your venue has a safe place to keep things and you can do the same thing. If not, i've been a bridesmaid at a wedding where we were left in charge of taking down decorations. It wasn't as bad as I thought. We put it all in a cab and I took it home to give to the bride a few days later. I'm interested to see what others suggest. This is a great question.

Hi Jennalyn, I'm so glad you're reaching out about this! Smiley heart It's definitely something to look at! In this post, I talked about venues having additional fees for clean up and take down:

6 hidden costs you should ask your venue about

Did you check with your venue to see if they could do it and how much it would cost? Who is going to be setting up the venue? Maybe they could also do the take down?
