Yes, we were able to visit The Herb Garden last September. We knew it was the place right away! The grounds are huge, with tons of lawn space and gardens and there's even a short hiking trail that surrounds a marsh. They have 2 indoor reception spaces - a large rustic barn and then a smaller barn. I'm not sure how many people can be accomodated in the larger barn, but since we are only having about 30 people, we are going to set up our reception in the smaller barn. It has windows and lots of light for a daytime reception. The larger barn felt a bit dark to me, but would be lovely with lights for an evening wedding. It could be fine during the day too, it was a pretty rainy/gloomy day when we were there. There's also a huge lawn to set-up a tent, I think they have pictures of that on their website.

Overall it had a really nice feel, very rustic and definitely quiet, surrounded by trees and grass and nature. I think they are closed down for the season now, but it was really easy to plan a visit, we just emailed them (it is owned by a husband and wife couple, Gerry and George) and they met us for a tour and let us wander around and take pictures. They are pretty laid back. George is an officiant, we only met her briefly but she seemed very nice so we are having her do our ceremony because that was a pretty easy option! She sent us a sample ceremony, but we basically changed everything and she doesn't care as long as the legal parts are still in it, so we are pretty happy with that.

I would definitely reccomend taking a tour!

That's amazing! We are looking into The Herb Garden too! It's absolutely gorgeous. Have you been to visit the venue yet? How is the planning going with the venue?

I would love to hear more about your planning so far!

    Thank you Smiley smile

Yay! I'm having a Sunday brunch too! We're having around 30 guests, but I don't see why it couldn't work with more just the same as any other wedding. Our venue is The Herb Garden in Almonte (http://www.herbgarden.on.ca/). We thought a barn/garden was perfect for a morning wedding. We had no problems getting the venue, in fact I think it was easier because a Sunday wedding is much less common. When we booked it this September, all the Saturdays for 2017 and some for 2018 were already taken, but all the Sundays were open so we had our choice of any day that we wanted (we chose September 17). We also got a huge price reduction for having it on a Sunday so that was excellent as well.

If you are interested, I can make a longer post with details of our planning so far.
