Sending invitations

Brenda, on August 27, 2017 at 20:42 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 10
So I've sent my save the dates and people have already RSVP's through our website. My question is, do I have to send our guests invitations if I know they are/are not coming?

Invitations should be aent out to all thay have received the save the dates and to consider 20% may decline. If you're planning to keep your number the same.

I had friends that just sent save the dates because everyone had responded to that and she didn't feel the need to send invitations - all info was on their website. Totally up to you - she DIY'd everything - so guess it depends.

I know some people would have wondered if they were still invited, is the wedding still on if they didn't received the follow invite...

I would definitely still send wedding invitations, and if you can I would suggest deactivating the RSVP function on your website until you send out wedding invitations.

Since your wedding date isn't until next year, people don't really know if they can come yet! They could have a scheduling conflict come up, or end up being tight on finances. I only had 2 people tell me that they couldn't attend our wedding after we sent out save the dates (they both had other weddings that weekend), and we got all the rest of our declines when it was actually RSVP time!

Thanks ladies! You raise some very valid points. It's always a struggle to know where you can get away from tradition and where it is required etiquette.

We sent invitations to family members who we knew for sure weren't attending as they live in Australia and South Africa. It seemed like the polite thing to do and as others have said, the invitation can make a nice keepsake for them!

I would send them anyways especially since the invitation will have the details about the wedding as well.

Invitations usually convey all the details about where and when your wedding will take place. Save the dates usually only state the date so that is why people customarily send both.

I have had 65 confirmations already on my website, lol wasn't expecting that already. I am still sending them invitations, it is still a personal touch. And I would like to think they would like to keep them for a little while at least.

I would just so they have all the info on there. They also might want to keep it as a momento.

I would if your wedding is formal, as well as for a keepsake for them or a reminder they have on their fridge or whatnot.
