Scheduling hair and makeup for wedding

Naomi, on April 19, 2018 at 10:17 Posted in Beauty 0 7
I am booking my hair stylists and makeup artists for the wedding. Who usually gets their hair and makeup done first? Bride? Bridesmaids?

Also, is it better to get my makeup application before or after my hair is styled?

I’d love to hear how you scheduled it for your wedding. (I have 3 bridesmaids and 1 junior bridesmaid.)

I ended up booking my hair appointments at a salon. That way, we were all able to get our hair done at the same time. I have invited my bridesmaids, mom, and fiance's mom to this. Make-up is being done at our getting ready location and only 2 of us are getting make-up done. I plan on going first since mine will take longer.

I am getting hair done first, then make-up. Mostly because we are doing hair at the salon and make-up at the home. But, another time I got make-up first then hair.

My photographer will be coming part way through the getting ready and I found I prefer the close-up shots of make-up being done more than the close-ups of hair, so that is another reason I am getting hair done first.

I've done the schedule for my hair/make up. I spoke with the make up artist and she advised that the bride should typically go more in the middle.. not early, but not right at the end, because if you run behind schedule you don't want the bride's hair or make up rushed.

My mom is getting her hair done elsewhere, so she'll be getting her make up done last so she's not rushed in the morning.

I budgeted about an hour per girl. I don't think it matters hair or make up first though.

I have all of my party getting in at the same time so that we leave the salon all roughly around the same time together.

The weddings I’ve been in the pros decided for us so I just assumed mine will be the same. I don’t think you’ll have to worry about scheduling you can just ask them and see what they like to do.

My MUA and hairs stylist chose all of this for me. My make-up artist wanted to do my base makeup near the start and then I went to do my hair, and went back to my makeup artist to finish the rest of my makeup. Check with them to see if they have a preference, and if they want you to schedule it for them, otherwise they'll be able to let you know.

My hair stylist and makeup artist decided on the order of things. My hair stylist started with my bridesmaid with curly hair that needed more attention than mine. I was second in the chair for hair and second for makeup (needed to eat lunch). They will know the best way for their work.

I would say you need to ask the vendor for at least 2 if not maybe 3 depending on time you allowing for eating ready. However I’ve never heard of it in terms of bridesmaids than bride but for bride, I have heard most recommendations for make up first so then if hair is down you don’t have to constantly play with it to do make up. But also for photos. Most photographers come for photos as finishing up and the photographers my friend had recommended her hair go last so her face is ready and all prettied up especially if you have certain areas you need to cover(under eyes etc).
