Save the date's vs invitations

Jodi, on July 12, 2017 at 11:29 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9

Hello fellow fiancé's

I am looking at the idea of sending out "Save the Dates" only to try to save us some money and create a wedding website through Wedding Wire for guests to obtain additional information as well as RSVP

any thoughts on this?

Https://www.zazzle.com has some great selections and you can put your names and dates in then take a screen shot and make it into a image file you can send out by email. I got lucky with my save the date cards I ended up ordering them from them as they had 40% off sale so paid a lot less then it would have been for me to print them up myself.

I researched a lot of wedding websites, I work in computer support, and found that JOY was free and gave the most features for a free site, so far I've been liking it. It has RSVP, separate sections for Q&A, Travel, photos, etc, I like that it has a smartphone app and your guests can upload their photos on the day to the app and everyone can see them. And response from the site for help is very fast, just have to bring up a chat, window and they usually respond same day or day later. But no complaints so far.

Hi Jodi! I think it's a great idea to use Wedding Wire Website. AS this people can fill in the RSVP. Here I send you some information: Where do we include information about our wedding website? - Guests can't enter my Wedding Website = Password - How To Manage Privacy on your Wedding Website - How To Create a Blog on My Website - xx

For the save the date, I just sent from our email using a jpg we edited. I believe that wedding wire and the knot have options though.

That's a good idea! I wish I had done that. I did both save the dates and invites. The sending out save the dates with website info, then keeping all info on there is an efficient idea

Ahhh! It's a brave new world and everything is changing, including wedding etiquette. Many of our guests are older and use the computer that much. We went the old fashioned route and just sent out invitations about 6 months before the wedding.

I did e-save the dates and it worked well. You can send e-invitations as well since you might have further details you need to update people on.

Hmm... maybe that would be the way to go- the reason I was thinking Save the Dates is because our wedding is next September long weekend and I wanted to give people a long heads up about it. I wanted to write something like.. more info to follow on our wedding website...and just not do the invites and have RSVPS on the website

Will you be sending out both save the dates and wedding invitations? If you are looking to save money, I would just send out the wedding invitations and on the back of it, write something letting guests know all other information is on the website and put on the link and a password if you have one. If you would like I can send you my actual invitation in a private message so you can see how I had it all laid out, but I wrote:

"For further details and to RSVP, please visit our wedding website"

    Website: ...................
    Password .................

You may alternatively contact the bride at ..... or e-mail.
