Save the dates

Chantal, on December 5, 2017 at 21:25 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
Hey everyone.
I was designing my invitations with vista print and loved that there is an option to create a save the date magnet. Would it be strange to send the magnet with the invitation? Is it proper etiquette to send "save the dates" before invitations?

Thanks in advance for your comments

Thank you all for the replies this helped me a lot. As my wedding is extremely small (10 invites) and less than a year away I went with creating magnets with just an image, our wedding date & basic information. It dosent say save the date just a little reminder for the fridge. I recommend vista print it was a lot of fun and very easy to create! Smiley shame

We went with save the date magnets. We sent them out three months before we sent our invitations. I love walking in to peoples house and seeing our magnets on their fridge.

Save the dates go out first in order to let people know that they will be receiving a formal invitation to an event.

The magnet could serve as an "insert" in the invite instead of a save the date. It would have the same info as the save the date, just wouldn't say "save the date" on it

This is true, save the dates are sent before the invitations, typically a year to 6 months prior to the wedding, for invitations to be send within the country.

Magnets are great! A friendly couple did send magnets and I had the date in my mind all the time, as I put it on my fridge. So I could actually plan my summer so that I can be present to their wedding!

Generally you send the save the dates first. We were going todo save the date magnets but found they were so expensive so we passed on them. Hope they turn out for you.

STD's should typically be sent ahead of time. We've gotten magnets before and they stay on the fridge as a reminder that its coming up - they're a cute touch, but I would definitely send them ahead of the invitations.

Honestly I think that's a really cute and very handy idea. A little magnet with the date so it's on people's fridges so they don't forget. As it's a magnet and not an actual save the date I think you totally could send it at the same time and it would just be seen as a cute little extra.

Now I'm going to go look at their magnets because I love that idea!

From what I gathered, your supposed to send out save the dates a year to 10 months to your wedding date.
The magnet idea is a great idea!!
