Plus size bridesmaids dress (short time frame)

Eizabeth, on July 24, 2017 at 10:26 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 12

Hey Everyone!

I'm getting married on September 30th and still looking for my birdesmaids dresses.

I didn't order them made from a bridal store because I didn't like all the very generic styles, but I underestimated how difficult it would be to find a dress somewhere else!

I'm having a tricky time because my maid of honour requires a plus size dress, and I can't find any nice ones and from what I've read online I don't have time to order one custom made.

Does anyone know of anywhere I should look to find one, or of any places that I could custom order from in a rush?

I appreciate any suggestions!

I bought my ivory lace wedding dress from Penningtons last summer. I don't know what kind of style you're looking for (formal or semi-formal), but I love the dresses from Torrid. There is a Torrid store in Oshawa and another at the Scarborough Town Centre. I have found gorgeous semi-formal dresses there and they go up to size 30!

Maybe try places like the bay, Nordstrom or any other store that sells some fancy clothes.

I think it depends on what you're looking for. My bridesmaids got their dresses from a regular store and they're definitely nice enough. Can the MOH have a slightly different dress? Maybe there's a local boutique that can help or somewhere like Laura or AdditionElle. ASOS curve has nice dresses online and they ship quickly but again I don't know what you're looking for.

Try "best for bride" they are very nice and have a great selection up to size 36 and their prices are pretty good

I am not sure where exactly you are located but my bridal party got their dresses from Henkaa. The showroom is located near Yorkdale Mall. They currently have a sale on so depending on what colour/style you are looking for you may be able to take advantage of the sale. You can order online however I went directly to the store and my girls were able to purchase and take home the same day. My girls love the dress they say it fits like a dream. The main reason I went with this dress is because my girls are all different sizes and have very different comfort levels. These dresses can be worn multiple ways so it fits with their comfort levels as you can wear it so it hides or shows more. My girls say the dress fits like a dream because it kinda flowy and doesnt cling to you.

I'm going through the same thing with my MOH. My wedding is on the 16th of September and what i want her to wear is either really expensive or wont get here in time.

Luckily we found a local seamstress that can make one in time.

Have you reached out in a local wedding planning group in your area? Or even just a local community group?

Hey Erin! You can pay extra for rush production, but the fastest I've found is 6-7 weeks which would leave me only 1 week before the wedding if any changes need to be made which is a bit scary!

I think I really need to find a place where I can purchase a dress that's already in stick and doesn't need to be made/ordered.

I believe you can pay a little bit more for a rush job. At this point it would be worth looking into it since you only have about 2 months until the wedding.

Hey Sasha! Thanks for the suggestion. My problem is a place like David's bridal, where you order the dresses, wouldn't be able to provide them in time for the wedding sadly.

    Hi Elizabeth!

There are a few discussions where other brides were talking about similar situations.

    Here is some inspiration:

    Bridesmaids dresses

    Bridesmaids' dress: Mismatched

    Bridesmaids' dress: Non-dress

Have you decided on your wedding colour palette yet? Smiley smile

Not sure if it's any help, but I noticed that Davids Bridal has plus size dresses online and in stores. A lot of the dress that comes in "average sizes" comes in plus size I believe. Good luck!!
