Planning your wedding... while working!

Jen, on January 10, 2018 at 04:35 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 34

How many of you are guilty of this? I definitely am. I work A LOT of night shifts and whenever there is a little bit of down time I'm scheduling tastings, fitting appointments, searching for decor, etc.

What do you do as a profession? Are you able to get any planning in while at work? Have you ever been given the stink eye by a coworker for it or been talked to by a manager?

A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to plan this wedding!

Yes! I work reception solo and work from a computer - so - I did ALL of my planning at work. Terrible - but true. I would get all my work done for the day before I started getting into the wedding details.

I work in recreation at an independent seniors facility. January is a slower time for us after the Christmas rush so I’m finding I have a lot of time to (quietly) do wedding stuff on my computer. It’s honestly great. Just have to watch that the boss doesn’t notice!

I'm a special needs educational assistant. Very little time other than on breaks or talking with the teachers I work with. I'm pretty sure some may be sick of me talking about it by now. I do carry my Wedding Book with me in case I get sometime but the same letter I meant to put a stamp on and address for the last week is still in there for a social prize. Today is the first day I got to sit down on a laptop and just go through wedding wire really in a few days and I get to stay up past 9 for something I want to do. Smiley smile

I’m a kindergarten teacher and I have zero time during the day for wedding planning. Sometimes the TA in my class and I talk about ideas while the kids are eating lunch. Mostly I’m doing things after dinner as I have no kids!

Guilty! I'm at work right now. Printing off vendor contracts to review over the weekend with my FH.

We are asked to put up a sign, at our desk, when we are on break or on lunch. So colleagues can see right away we're not doing that sort of stuff when we should be working haha.

That is true when you're busy and not having time to eat. I was the same then and now for eating.

I’m in an office job, bilingual customer service. For Head Canada. So we have the busy ski season and busy summer tennis 🎾 season. In between there are some slow times. The morning is usually the busiest and the afternoon can slow down. That’s when I sneak in my wedding planning or research. So glad I’m not the only one. 😊

I found the list was so helpful! All the big stuff is done, so it's just details at this point. The list also helps to determine if it's actually important or not. Once the list gets too long, I scratched stuff off realizing it's not as important as other things.

Similar with me. I work 8-4:30 Mon-Fri which is when people would want to meet. I just had to re-enforce I was at work and offer other times. If they want your business, they will accommodate to your schedule.

I can't plan while I'm on day shifts, unfortunately. I'm just way too busy and most of the time I don't have long of a break (I literally scarf down my food and get back to the unit).

I am a veterinary assistant and one of my bridesmaids actually works with me at the hospital so we do a lot of wedding talk and planning there. My manager is very understanding thankfully so she allows it during the down time but I do most of it on my breaks.

I had the same while working in retail business as a salesperson. My manager was getting tired of hearing what i was planning and the look of everything.

At home when possible, i went online shopping and researched vendors. To get quotes and paperwork emailed. Payments by e transfer and decor look 2 different places.

At the end of the planning all was perfect and looked tp the vision pictured. Myhusband was impressed with all the work i put in and how modernized it was based on the final look.

Don't stop planning while working. You get something accomplished rather than nothing.

What do you do for work? I spend a lot of time doing paperwork and charting on night shift so I usually have some time to sneak in some planning.

Same. We don't have a lot of planning to do. Just small details here and there and booking appointments.

I’m a grade k-6 substitute teacher and also work at an after school program so I get very little time to plan during the day. I’ve actually found it really hard to meet with vendors because they often want to meet in the day and I can’t guarantee that I’ll be free because I could get called at anytime!

So glad I am not the only person! My co-worker spends his free time on Facebook so I at least feel a bit better because I'm still "working", just working on wedding stuff.

I am a solar technician , but during the winter there isn't alot to do, so any time I am not doing any thing or I am working alone, I am totally guilty of this

    I'm working now!

I find as long as I'm getting my work done, everyone leaves me alone and I of course make sure work is priority over planning.

I'm not really even planning at this stage.. just looking.

I work at a shelter and my manager is against adding new programs even though her idea hasn't panned out so I have lots of time in between clients. I basically come with a list every morning. Today, it's to look for a nice car to rent for our wedding! I am actually currently at work!
