Opinions on Videography

Breanne, on October 29, 2017 at 19:59 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
Just looking for some feedback on the pros of having a videographer as we are leaning towards not having one, but just want to hear other opinions! Thanks everyone!

Hi Breanne, did you make a decision about photography? If you're going with it, do you need any help finding a pro to hire? Let us know!

Ask one of your guests who is tech savy to help you out. As long as they have a good phone they can take a video of your wedding for you without adding any extra costs.

I really wanted a videographer for our wedding but couldn't find room in the budget for it... some can be reasonable priced and it can skyrocket. I spoke to one of my cousins who did have a videographer at her wedding (20 years ago!) and she said she honestly didn't watch it other than when they first got it!
I just love the highlight videos Smiley heart so it's really why do you want it and will you watch it in the future.

We decided against a videographer and we will just have someone record it for us. I've seen videos done professionally, and they do look really nice.

We decided against videography just because we couldn't fit it in our budget. But if you have room for it in your budget and you want it, I say go for it! Modern wedding videos are so cool--most that I have seen are edited so perfectly.

I really really wanted a videographer but it was not in the budget. I am very passionate about music and I tend to have a lot of nostalgia so the video to me would be the perfect combination of the two. Although I was bummed we didn't have one, in the end now that the wedding is done, I'm okay with it now. It's way too much money in my opinion. Plus some people at the ceremony filmed some stuff. A family friend recorded the whole thing, my dad recorded our vows and people recorded dancing and speeches so in the end if I want, I could make my own compilation of photos and videos to music if i really want.

Also, I never thought about it but Daphne is so right. We would probably only watch the video once a year really haha. But of course if it's in your budget i would totally do it!! But otherwise i wouldn't break the bank for it.

Maybe this will help you decide: We asked ourselves how often we would watch the video of our wedding and the answer was “maybe once or twice”. So that made it easy for us to know that it wasn’t worth spending on. We decided that the photography budget was more important and that we’d look at those lots and print a bunch for hanging on the walls.
