now What!?

Heather, on June 2, 2018 at 23:48 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15
Hello Brides,

I just got engaged last night!!!!

I am a wedding vendor and absolutely live and breath all things bridal - hence why I even know wedding wire exists and why I'm already asking questions!!! I of course have a Pinterest board flooded with images, with no consistent colour scheme.

My question is, what is the FIRST thing you do? What's my next step!?

Congratulations! The first thing I did with my FH was pick a general time of the year we wanted to get married (summer), set a budget, and begin our guest list. Everything else seems to reflect off of those things.

    Congratulations!

I would say that budget should be your first step. Don't make any other plans until you guys have a budget you agree upon and a plan.

    Congrats!!

First step - find the main vendors! (Venue, photographer, florist, DJ). From there you'll need to know your numbers.

Congratulations, Heather! While you may take a different approach, the first things my fiancé and I did was discuss our guest list (and count), and the time of year we wanted to get married.

This information is crucial to your budget, as well as the types of venues you look at as you need a date to determine the venue's availability.

CONGRATS! - and welcome to the Bride side of things! Lol, the first step I would recommend is a budget. Once you have that I would start thinking what season you would like to have your wedding but don't pick a specific date because that part will come down to when the venue you want is available - of course it's great to have some dates in mind. From there follow the checklist on wedding wire; but be mindful that you should do all those things a little sped up. If I waited to chose a venue at the 10-12 month mark I would be out of luck as certain vendors will book over a year to 2 years in advance if they are well sought after.

Hey! Congratulations!! I just got engaged recently as well!! The first thing I recommend is take a breath and let it all sink in. Take some time to enjoy this exciting time!! The next thing I would say is a guest list and budget. Having a rough idea of numbers and how much you want to spend will be helpful when you start venue shopping. I've been using the checklist feature on wedding wire and I love it! Smiley smile

    Congratulations!

We got engaged April 20th and we haven’t done much. We wanted to just enjoy the feeling of being engaged and researching before we even plan anything. We did pick October of next year as our time line. We sat with our families to decide who we would like to invite with their input so we have a number. We have decided that when I’m finished writing report cards in the next couple of weeks we will go look at venues and go to our church to discuss marriage classes.

    Congrats!

I would suggest creating a budget first! And with that, the size of wedding you want. We secured our venue first, then planned our budget around that, which, looking back, may not have been the smartest thing to do because we've had to adjust our budget a couple times!

    Congrats first of all!

You and your fiancé need to sit down and figure out your guest list and base your venue choice on the count. Do consider that 40% of the guests may decline, so add more names to fill that space if needed to get the yes.

Yay!!! Congratulations!!!! Sit down with your spouse and each separately write down on a piece of paper your vision and idea for your wedding - you can write down people you would like to invite, location, season, colors, bridal party, food, flowers, officiant/vows/ special moments, etc. then you can circle where items intersect! Its a great way to get the conversation going!

Make a guest list! Once you have a general idea of how many people you’d like to invite, you can start looking at venues that will accommodate your size.
