Menu/escort Cards

Marcia, on May 28, 2018 at 15:15 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15

Hello brides! If we are having a seating chart, do we need to have escort cards? Are they the same thing? I'm at the checklist stage where it says we should order escort cards.

Also, we did order our programs for our ceremony. But other than that, I don't know if its necessary or not to give everyone a menu card. Everyone is eating the same thing (except the vegetarians will have a different entree), we didn't offer a choice to our guest, less work lol Smiley smile.

Thanks for the advice ladies, I will be doing a seating chart in lieu of the escort cards, and two menus per table.

I would do one or the other but not both.

That number is for a service that uses multiple taxi brands in Edmonton and area. Dial one number, and it sends the first available cab to you. It could be a cab from Yellow, Barrel, Prestige, Checker, Capital, 24-7, Leduc Yellow, or Sherwood Park Yellow cabs.

Fantastic! This is great! I love that you added the taxi number! Is that a good company? I live in St. Albert, so our taxi services are completely different.

I used Vistaprint's menu style, and this is what I came up with. I included a 'don't drink and drive' message, along with a taxi phone number, as well!

    Drink menuMenu/escort Cards 2

I love the idea of a drink menu too! Because we are paying corkage and buying our own liquor, it would allow us to only have certain things. Thanks for the idea!

I agree with the others. Escort cards OR a seating chart, not both.

I am not doing a menu, for the same reason - everyone is eating the same thing! What we did do, because I like the look of it at each place setting, is design a menu style document with a 'Thank you for coming' message on one side, and a drink menu (listing all our bar options, including the signature drinks, beers, mixes and liquors we have available so people will know before going to stand at the bar what their options are) on the other side.

You decide what best fits the two of you and style wise. Escort cards if you want to add some goodies to it. Seating charrts to save the table space.

We had escorts cards with names personally on red maple leaf clips.

The picturefor the menu program was set on bells with a bow on each table x2 for guests to know what they are eating.

In terms of the menu cards, as a guest, I do like to know what will be served. But it doesn't matter if it's individual menus or one menu per table or just one menu at the front by the gifts. Even then, I would be okay with just being surprised too Smiley smile

You only really need them if you're having a plated meal. Otherwise, you just need the seating chart.

If you have a seating chart you don't need escort cards - the escort cards tell people which table to sit at, same as the seating chart. They're basically interchangeable.

But regardless of which method you use, if you're having assigned seating then place cards are needed. So that guests know which seat to sit at at their table.

You would normally have escort cards OR a seating chart. No need for both. It’s more of a personal preference thing. We are doing escort cards and place cards (assigned seating)
I think Menus are again a personal preference. I have only been to maybe 2 weddings in my life that had menus. We are doing menus, but it’s because I like the way it looks folded into the napkins. Haha. Also we aren’t going to have a wedding website, but if you do, you could always add the menu to that if you wanted.

I would say that the escort cards are not needed. It should be fine without them.

I'm not sure if people typically have both, but if I have a seating chat, I likely won't have escort cards too as my fiancé and I's guest list is small.
