Meeting photographer

Amanda, on April 11, 2018 at 13:21 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
When would be a good time to meet with the photographer (we've already met briefly, but no specific requests/ planning locations for the shoot)
I'm about 5 months out now. Is it too early to meet with her?

These ladies are spot on with the timeline! Also something that a friend just mentioned to me the other day (I'm meeting my prospective photographers this weekend): Ask your photographer what they wear day-of. I never thought of asking this... I realize some people assume they dress appropriately for the wedding... but I've heard horror stories of people in leisure clothing or neon shirts at formal weddings... Yes they are taking the photos, so they won't be in them... but your guests still see them.

Hi Amanda! I'd just ask your photographer! Let them know what your outstanding questions are and ask when the best time to talk about them would be!

My photographer said our final meeting to go over day of stuff as well as decide on our "must have" photos and everything is 2-3 months before the wedding

I'm 5 months left too and I'm meeting with them july which would be 2 months before my wedding. I've just been saving photos on Pinterest on how I want my photo to look or ideas pf what kind to shoot for. Then I wrote questions I have for them so I don't forget.

I've been emailing with my photographer, but probably won't actually meet up with her.

She gave me a list of things to provide to her such as time line and a list of photos we want.

We met with our photographer about 5 months out, mostly because I was from out of town, so we did it when I would be visiting. He did send along the survey though which included what kind of shots I wanted and any information he would need. Check with your photographer to see when and if they will be sending that out. I recommend you do that first before meeting with them again. Also, he suggested I share my Pinterest board with him if I had any inspirations. We did end up copying some of the photos on the day of, but with his own twist on it, but most of them were for the style, so he could get a feel of what I was looking for.

My photographer sent a survey with times and locations and shots we want. She said to fill it out once we know all the information and then we will meet. If you happen to have all this info, you can ask to meet now but I think closer might be better so it is more fresh in her mind!

My photographer said to wait and do the meeting where you go over certain shots you want done for the day as soon as you have your day of timeline completed. We've been emailing back and forth since we got engaged though about different locations.
