Looking for the right venue. Any suggestions?

Melissa, on October 4, 2016 at 01:29 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

Having a hard time finding a venue that meets our needs. My fiance has a large family and I have a big close knit group of friends, so finding somewhere that is the picture perfect place for what we want as well as being able to accommodate everyone, not kicking us out before midnight, not being too far away and lastly not being outrageously priced is proving to be quite the task. Any suggestions are muchly appreciated.

Yea they are about a 20-30minute drive from each other. Just need something to hold approx 120 people. Okay thanks ill check those out.

We chose the field because he wanted a mountain top wedding and I wanted a beach wedding so we agreed to have mountains in the background as well as water as a compromise and this was what we fell in love with Smiley smile

Haven't done too much yet still a ways off and we're just slowly going at it as im still going through my school program until april. when im done thats when the real planning begins Smiley smile

Hi Melissa! I'm not familiar with those venues but I looked them up and looks like they're a little far from each other. How big of a venue are you looking for? I know that the Capilano Suspension Bridge also does weddings and they're close to the Cleveland Dam Field. I know there are some golf and country clubs in North Van so maybe they do weddings as well?

So what made you choose the Cleveland Dam Field? How is the rest of your planning coming along?

    Hi Sam,

We are pretty sold on having the ceremony at Cleveland Dam Field in North Van and we are pretty sure we would like to have the reception at Burnaby Lake Rowing Pavilion, however I am still open to reception spaces in north van closer to the ceremony space. If you have any reccommendations I'd love to hear them!

    Thanks!

I would second what Simone said. First decide what sort of wedding you want to have. We were looking for a space that could accomodate an outdoor wedding ceremony so that eliminated most hotels for me. Then I contacted the venues that could accomodate that criteria and the approximate number of guests and asked them for pricing and then created a spreadsheet that calculated the total cost based on my guest list. Of those I contacted the ones that I liked the best that fit my budget and went and looked at them in person. We ended up booking the first place we looked at. LIkely because I had done so much research before hand, we had questions knew what we were looking for and that made it pretty easy to make a decision.

Hi Melissa! Have you had any luck finding venues? We had our wedding in Vancouver so I'd be happy to help if you're still looking!

And I'm not sure if you've stumbled across this website but it was really helpful to find wedding vendors in Vancouver! http://www.vancityweddings.com/

Hi Melissa, From my experience, I made a decision on where I wanted the venue to be for my wedding reception. (I.e: hotel is the choice venue that I wanted to have it held) I made a lot of calls and sent emails to get a quote based on how many guests that I estimate to have. I asked manager how big the rooms are to accomdate guests, depending on the venue and how many you are estimated to have there can be flexibility to expand the rooms if they are divided. Banquet halls are great and especially if you can have catering provided. I had a friend use a community centre for her combined wedding reception and wedding social. Where would you like to have your venue? How many guests are estimating to have?
