Let's Talk Photos! Guest Group Photo

Joey, on June 25, 2018 at 09:35 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 27

This photo is something that's much more manageable with a small guest list than a large one, but some couples like to get all their guests gathered together for one big group photo. Is this guest group photo something you're going to attempt on your wedding day?

Yep! Someone on here gave me the idea to take a group photo right after the ceremony. We’ve asked our officiant to make an announcement so our guests know that before we exit we’ll be taking a group photo.

To be honest we totally forgot to take this picture, it was on our agenda but the night just flew back and got so busy.

Not sure if we can take one in our venue and drone might not be an viable option as there are residential nearby...hopefully the photobooth guest book can get everybody's faces there!

We are going to do smaller group shots. So, his extended family, my extended family, his coworkers, my coworkers etc.

    We are sort of.
We have 2 photographers. So when we have our 1st kiss i want an audience shot. And one when i first walk into the room

Also when we walk down the aisle. We will stop at the end and have the photog have everyone turn and take a photo.
    So no heavy organizing involved

There is a massive spiral hedge maze at our venue and I've seen such cool pictures of guests spread throughout it and was determined to get a group picture in it but didn't even put two and two together that it would take FOREVER to get everyone gathered and throughout the maze and older guests likely would be stuck on the edges. Our venue coordinator said she's seem the shot take up to an hour, so I'm sadly opting out of it now but may try for one like you posted.

I don't think we'll be doing this - it think it's too complicated to do and we have a tight schedule.

But I am getting POV photos in the chapel during the ceremony, so that might be a good exchange

I don't believe there will be a place where we could do this. Our ceremony and reception are all in one building, and outside is a cliff on one side (mountain top), and a road/school on the other...

I'm going to ask the photographer to get a few good wide angle shots of everyone at the ceremony.

We wanted one of these but the only place it would work would not have been accessible to our older guests.

My photographer is going to get a group photo when we have our first kiss: she'll be facing the crowd as opposed to just getting us and the officiant. So it's more of a candid shot than a planned group shot.

I would love to but I don't think it will work in my case because everyone will already be seated when we start the reception so it would be hard to get everyone our and pose for a picture

I don't really want one.. but my FH actually said he wanted one. So now I've reached out to the photographer to ask if its possible.

Meh, probably not. I'd rather get a bunch of candid photos of our guests than a very unnatural group picture.

Probably not. Not only is there going to be a lot of guests, but I don't know where my photographer would go to take this picture.

We only have 40 guests so I'd like to try a group photo. The guests are all family members so I'd like one of us with his family then one with mine - I think our guests would like that. We'll see what the photographer says if it would take too much time to do.

We did more of smaller group pictures over 1 huge picture. We had time and managed to include our family for the big shot.

Heck no! These are a flashback to elementary school and junior high! Nobody I knew liked cranking their neck to take these pictures... Just... so many bad school photo's....

I love these pics but I really can’t justify spending that much time setting them up!

I had initially ran the idea by my fmil.. She agreed it can be a great idea but takes a min of 30 min (sometimes 45min to an hour). To finally get everyone coordinated and take the picture. If you have a very small guest list maybe but we will be skipping it cause there are better ways to spend everyone's time on that day.

If our photographer thinks she can do it then I would love to! Otherwise we may get her to stand behind the officiant at some point and get a photo from that point of view and it will have a lot of the guests in the background 😊

I'd love to have a photo like this, but since our wedding ceremony is happening as the sun is setting, this will eat up any chance we have for those golden hour photos. So I think we will be skipping this one Smiley sad

We didn't do a group photo. It would have been too difficult to coordinate.
