My friend's mom used to carry photocopies of her kids birth certificates for travelling. I'll prob do that just in case lol.

I've heard the picking up packages thing can be difficult.

And SOMETIMES (not all the time) you may have some questions at the airport travelling with a kid with a different last name. I've heard from like 80% of people this isn't a problem but my mum had a different last name than me and we seemed to get questioned every time (even though we look like the same person haha).

I LOVE my last name, and I original said I would refuse to give it up. However, We can't really combine our last names, I don't like hyphenating and I want the same last name as my kids. I think I'll keep my last name as a middle name though so I still know its there and I probably won't update my work email.

So many women are keeping their last name that I don't think you will run into many issues! Just maybe if you decide to have kids and your last name could potentially be different. But even then you could hyphenate it with your husbands. But I would cross that bridge when it comes!

I agree with you 100%.

I am changing my last name, however I have considered hyphenating my name. For those I know who choose to keep their name I've noticed they always get asked why and usually get told how non-traditional it is. I don't understand why, it's just personal preference and if someone disagrees will too bad for them lol and as a teacher in training I think I plan to keep my maiden name at school.

I kept mine and the only "problems" I've encountered so far are: 1) people asking me why I kept my name; 2) not being able to pick-up packages for my husband because my last name doesn't match his.
Other than that, if people call me by my husband's last name in a situation where it has no impact, I don't mind.

I won't be changing my last name because I like my last name and it's too much work paper work. I wouldn't mind being called Mrs Husband's last name though.

I haven't heard of many people having that problem! But I'm sure some people may be unsure what to call you as Stephanie stated. But I can't imagine much else being a huge problem. Good for you!

The only thing I've heard is that women will still get called "mrs. Husband's last name" or things will be addressed to both of them using just his last name.
