Is anyone's wedding dependent on weather?

Kaytee, on August 11, 2017 at 12:37 Posted in Wedding reception 0 32
Ours is - yikes! Well....kind of.
We have an outdoor ceremony no matter what but it usually doesn't rain here in September so I think we will be okay but we are hoping to have the dance OUTSIDE in the evening (dinner is in the barn) but if it is too cold out, we might have to move it inside at the last minute. The DJ is really awesome and is willing to start outside and then move inside if it is too cold BUT how annoying will that be if we have to move all the dinner tables and stuff. I definitely will not be doing that and I would feel bad for the guests to do that but if they have to - they have to. We are having a campfire either way so that is weather appropriate but I really hope it is warm enough to keep the dance outside.

Oh perfect. Its lovely up there in the fall.

I was just going to warn you about September snow fall if you'd been getting married in Canmore or Banff, haha.

We're getting married in BC instead of our home town (Canmore). Saving money!

Everything is outside for me ceremony, cocktail reception, dinner and dancing.
I am not too concerned hoping it only rains for 20 minutes but with my luck it may rain all day

That sounds wonderful, and I'm sure if you have to move inside your guests won't mind helping out. Congratulations.

Ours is inside. March can still be very cold and an outdoor possibility was never even thought of.

Good luck with that. You can always check the weather report the evening before and set up accordingly.

I sure think so. I don't have it booked yet because I'm waiting for reasonable quotes. Right now it's too early because the flights aren't scheduled yet. My mantra is Patience is a virtue....Patience is a virtue......Patience is a virtue.

Well yes it will be weather dependent for sure. My concern is we are marrying in hurricane season in Cuba. It's the 10th anniversary of our first date, and much cheaper naturally in September. Weather could play a huge issue, or be about 30 C and beautiful.....got my fingers crossed.

It won't be accurate yet, but the weather network has a section for historical weather. You can look up what the weather was like on your wedding day in your location over the last several years to get a rough idea of the average amount of precipitation. Good luck with your wedding as well! 😊

Our ceremony will be outside (in May), so there is a chance of rain. We're planning on renting a tent as a backup!

Haha, I kind of look at the weather channel now because I am curious but of course it would not be this accurate this far away.

Good luck with your wedding Smiley smile

We have rented a community hall so we have the whole facility and grounds. Luckily we have indoor and outdoor spaces for both ceremony and reception but I want it to be solely outdoors. I guess it will come down to what the weather channel says come the wedding week!

Our Ceremony is outside as well and then everything else is inside. I am hoping for no raid since the ceremony site is one of the major reasons that we picked this location. But if we do have to go inside there is a fireplace at the end of the room and everyone will just be at their seats for the ceremony.

Hey Erin, I looked at some of your profile pictures and our weddings looks very similar. Rustic, barn, wood, etc. I love it! We told everyone in our invites to bring a sweater and we have blankets people can use. I think we could move our ceremony inside if we had to and just do it at the front and then everyone will just sit at their seats. We should keep in touch, I would love to see your wedding photos after, especially since we are getting married on the same day Smiley winking

We are doing a similar thing except we will keep a portion of the barn as a dance floor. The barn will be open though so people can come in and out to dance, grab dessert etc. We will have a fire pit going as well and have already told everyone to bring a sweater if they think necessary as it may be chilly in the evening. We have also discussed doing everything in the barn should it rain as there would be no cover for our guests in our ceremony area.
