Invites

Lena, on April 19, 2018 at 15:12 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 20

Hello there....I am in the midst of putting the invites stuff together and I've run into a problem.....how are brides sending maps in with their invites? Do people even do that anymore with GPS available? I did a screen shot of a map showing where the venue was in word but it didn't quite look very sharp and was very small. Should I also include directions from the various places people will be travelling from?? Thank you for your input!!

We did the same thing as well. we have the address on the invite and assume that most can figure it out. if not, or cant have access to the website, they will ask a family member that will be able to direct them.

We just told everyone to go to our website for all the details. On there we had a map and details concerning venue and hotels.

Our venue gave us a little insert to put in with our invites that had a map on one side and information about our hotel block on the other. Maybe ask your venue if they have anything like this that you can get? We also put directions on our website just in case.

We have a wedding website and on there my fiance included a link to google maps. That way, the venue is automatically there when the click the link and the guests just have to enter their starting point!

If you're not doing a website, don't worry about a map. These days, most people know how to look up an address! And if they don't, they will ask! If you're concerned about someone not finding it (honestly, even with google maps I still get lost sometimes!) I would suggest calling/emailing them and asking if they need help with directions.

I use to see that years ago. I don't see that anymore. Honestly, with pretty much everyone having GPS and Google I wouldn't bother.

I was going to do a map insert, but my dad talked me out of it. Mainly because my venue is a landmark and people will definitely know where to go - or there are a million apps people use for mapping.

But if your venue is out in the middle of nowhere with very specific turns and signs and not easily found via google or apple maps, then I would suggest putting it on the website, you have one. If you don't have one, then hopefully your guests will google where they're going at least a few days prior and they'll ask you questions. Or worst case scenario, you can send it as an email to all the guests that have RSVP'd.

No maps for us! Honestly, with Google, Waze, and the fact that literally everyone has some sort of GPS available to them most of the time, we don't feel like the expense of a map is necessary.

I did not put a map on my wedding invitation, just the address! I just assume that my guest will use GPS or find a away with all the technology we have now a days. I also don't think our venue is too complicated to find, but it depends on if your venue is harder to locate or isn't on gps.

I sent out the address and had the option to place a map on our wedding website, otherwise, everyone figured it out on their own using GPS or other methods. If the location is very complicated (such as a specific location in a park or campground) than I would suggest to physically print a zoomed in map and hand draw the directions or location (maybe even place a fun sticker on the location).

We put a map on our wedding website and directed people there if they needed directions.

I'm a little artsy so I am putting a map just for fun!

Very simple! I know it's probably not needed with Google Maps and GPS these days but I wanted to include the extra detail! : )

If you have a location I'd be happy to put a map like this one together for you! It's about as fancy as I can do... fonts and colours can be changed!

    I don't think a map is necessary. I haven't seen a map in an invite in...over 10 years easily.
the only way I would suggest maybe considering it...is if the location doesn't have a physical address. or if you were getting married in a large city park.

If your sister's GPS took her through back roads, it's possible it may do that for someone else on your guest list so it may be best to include a direction card with your invitations!

You could include a directions card, where once people are at a nearby landmark, you give directions from there, so you're not having to have several sets of directions...

Do you have a wedding website? You could include it on a details insert, and then put more detailed directions and a map online.

Well.....the venue is a tad out of the way. My sister met me there in Nov last year and for some reason her GPS took her through back roads, and I mean gravel road back roads.....I'm just a little concerned that GPS will take people and "out in the sticks" way and we will get all kinds of people calling wondering if they will ever get there and if they are going the right way...lol

Hi Lena! Is your venue easy to find from the road and easy to find on google maps?

I did not include a map or directions in my invitations because my venue wasn’t hard to find! If there are specific turns your guests shouldn’t miss or instructions on how to find your wedding at the venue then you can include those on a details card or on your wedding website!
