How to pick an MC?

Jennifer, on September 10, 2019 at 16:07 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 10
I've only ever been to weddings where a family member or close friend was the MC. My only close friends and family are all scared of public speaking and barely even want to do a speech let alone MC the whole night. Can you hire someone for this? Do they have to know you? If they don't know you how do you make it personal? Any other brides out there go through something like this? How did you pick your MC?

Your DJ can definitely act as the MC, but it wouldn't be as personable.

We are going to have our DJ as the MC as well, it came with the package we booked. And it is easier for us as none of our family/friends are to do it Smiley xd

I have attended many wedding where family or friends did MC for their own sibling or best friend upon request.

You will most likely have your DJ upon booking to have them MC too making things easier, if offered in their services. Lately, many wedding have been that way since the family gets to enjoy their time at the reception. They will announce whatever you need them to say for speeches, dinner served, cake cutting and all the dances.

I’ve been to a few weddings where the DJ is the MC. I find it’s not personalized to the couple but everything runs smoothly.
My friend didn’t have an MC. She had the wedding party take turns giving out the information.

We paid for an MC in partnership with our DJ. They are a team and it was just included in the dj services.

Right now we are probably going to ask a couple of people in the wedding party to MC... we had asked a friend who had my FH MC his wedding and he said no because he doesn't know me that well and he isn't as outgoing as us, then we asked another good friend who knows us pretty well and knew my FH since grade school but he isn't outgoing enough to accept it... so seeing as how we are the outgoing ones in our friend groups... probably going to ask that the wedding party rotates or something? Don't like the idea of the DJ being the MC because she doesn't know us.

Our DJ is our MC. He also coincidentally knows my FH as well so it kind of worked out.

For a lot of the weddings I have been to the DJ was the MC. The last wedding I went to had the bride's uncle's as MCs but there was nothing personal said, they just announced who was coming up next for speeches. As Casey mentioned, you can MC yourself and I don't think anyone would bat an eye.

Your dj is probably an MC as well. what i did when hiring my dj was looked at reviews and checked out his instgram videos and tagged videos to see how he did as a dj and mc and people loved him and my fiance and i met him and person and he was so pleasant great people skills and SOO easy to talk too. check wedding wire for DJs and check their reviews then search them on fb and ig!

So our DJ offers MC services if we didn't have one. So check your DJ, many include them in their services. I have been to weddings where the MC just met the Bride and Groom and you honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference

My brother is doing our MC'ing. He isn't super into public speaking, but he is a funny guy, and I think that will be a good thing for the reception!
