How far in advance did you book your venue?

How far in advance did you book your venue? Did you see it before you booked it? I heard years in advance...

We booked our 11 months in advance. I feel like anywhere between 8-15 months is reasonable. depending on how popular the locations are.

We saw ours twice before we booked it.

We booked ours 15 months in advance. Same with our rentals and I'm glad we did! We live in a small town and things book up quickly 😊

A year in advance, mainly because we didn’t wanted to lose the venue. It’s very popular and perfect for us. And it’s the only venue I visited that’s pet friendly. We want our fur-babies to be at the wedding.

The more popular venues go quickly either due to location, package deals or time of year. If the place you are looking at is quite popular I would book sooner than later. I booked mine over a yr in advance, as I needed to pick a date and venue before I thought about my other vendors.

That way say if I was having it in Banff and the other vendors charged travel cost (which most due, if they aren't local in Banff) then I can budget for that and pick out the ones that are cheaper.

We booked it 8 months prior to the wedding so it was pretty stressful. But it was only about 4 weeks after being engaged
We knew what date we wanted so we had to act fast. We went and saw it before placing our deposit that night

We booked a year in advance which I think is fairly standard.

We already had a general idea before we even got engaged. We saw the venue and booked it in January 2017 for our June 2018 wedding. So 1yr and 6 mts

We booked it last month (May 2018) and our wedding is not until next year (August 2019).

The moment we walked closer to the venue, the more excited I became since there was a nice vibe about it, and the moment we started the tour, I knew it was the one when I looked around and thought, "I can see myself getting married here."

We visited a few more venues afterwards, but none of them gave off the same vibe. There was such a huge difference in attitude that my fiancé noticed it and said it was so obvious since I was no longer keen, nor were I bombarding the staff with questions during the tours.

We booked April 2017 for our August 2018 wedding. And we still weren’t the first people who had been penciled in for our ceremony location. The earlier the better to book your vendors.

We booked ours in December 2017 for our October 2018 wedding. We're getting married in off season so we didn't have too many problems finding a place. Definitely recommend seeing it first if you're able. I viewed one that I thought for sure I'd love from the pictures but ended up really not liking it in person (it looked dated and poorly maintained).

I booked ours in April for our August 2019 wedding, so 1 year a 4 months in advance. We actually booked the venue without seeing it first (so crazy I know!) but I had seen pictures from previous weddings at the site and have wanted to get married there for at least 3 years so we booked anyways! It was also the last Saturday available for the summer of 2019 so we weren't going to wait until the next time we're back home to book.

We checked out a couple of venues in December of 2017, booked it in January 2018 for our September 2019 wedding.

The venue's owner encouraged us to book early, as she books a lot of her dates via wedding shows. Since we don't live in the same province, it was really important for us to secure that venue right away!

We started looking in January and booked by February for our August 2019 wedding.

Start looking ASAP and book it as soon as you find the one you want because several of the venues we looked at didn't have our date.

Book it as soon as you find it. At least a year.... especially for busy season weddings. Key summer weekends can book up several years in advance for some venues.

Others can still be booked a few months out... but it should really be the first thing you book, as it determines your guest list size (venue capacity), catering, ceremony space, etc...

We booked our venue in February for our wedding in October 2019 (a year and 8 months).
I definitely advise you to look at the venue before booking it because just like when buying a house - pictures can be deceiving.

I booked mine in April for a July 2019 wedding. We have a lot of overseas guests so I wanted to have the date set early. We're also having a ceremony location and a reception location so we wanted to make sure they were both available and get them both locked in.

We went in person to view it. We had seen pictures online, but seeing it in person definitely helped us see our vision for the day! We booked a year in advance and we got the last Saturday of the summer. I wasn't picky with the date, just knew I wanted it in the summer and preferred a Saturday.

I booked mine two years in advance, but only to secure the date and let my overseas family know since most of them are planning on coming.

We booked ours August 2017 and we get married June 2019. It was our dream venue, and it's now not taking any more bookings till after 2021..

You definitely just see the venue first!! I couldn't imagine not viewing it before booking it. Most places have it as a requirement to view and meet before signing a contract.

You should definitely see a venue before you book it.

We booked ours about 8 months before. But we ar having our weddIng during a very slow time of year.

How long you book depends on what time of year you want and how popular your venue is.
